Go Gig ‘Em

The 6-1 Aggies open as 2.5-point road favorites over the 5-3 Tigers on the Plains in an intriguing SEC West showdown. Jimbo Fisher’s squad is looking to stay in contention for a possible spot in the College Football Playoff.

A&M beat LSU  20-7 in Week 13, while the Tigers got smoked by Alabama 42-13 in the Iron Bowl.

The Aggies have lost three straight to War Eagle, but are clearly the better team in this spot. That said, Gus Malzahn’s crew is desperate for a victory. Don’t be surprised if this line trends downward to a virtual Pick ‘Em by the end of the week.

Gator Bait

The SEC East-leading Gators come into Knoxville as 17.5-point favorites against the 2-5 Volunteers. Florida has dominated this series for a generation, winning 14 of the last 15 in the series. Dan Mullen’s squad is led by Kyle Trask, who is now a favorite to become the latest Gainesville-based QB to win the Heisman.

The 7-1 Gators took care of Kentucky 34-10 in Week 13, while the Vols had a bye heading into this divisional rivalry game. Tennessee is simply not in the same class as Florida and this line might get even bigger as we get closer to kickoff.

Duck Hunt

The No. 15 Oregon Ducks enter Strawberry Canyon as favorites over Cal in a game between two teams that are coming off narrow losses to their rivals. The Golden Bears lost a nail-biter – and The Axe – to Stanford 24-23 the day after Thanksgiving,

Meantime, the Ducks are coming off a heartbreaking 41-38 defeat to Oregon State in Corvallis. The reigning Pac-12 champs are now looking up at Washington in the North division standings.

How will Mario Cristobal’s program rebound from a confounding loss to an inferior opponent? UO bounced back from a frustrating loss on the road last year in Tempe against Arizona State to win the Rose Bowl Game. I have confidence the Ducks get it together and remain solid favorites against former Duck Justin Wilcox’s program.
