Week 8 of college football may not have had the blockbuster matchups of the week prior, yet tensions were nearly as high. Teams at the top of the 2022-23 National Championship odds more or less did what was expected of them in Week 8. Thus, not much has changed at the top of the National Championship betting market.

A showdown of undefeated UCLA in Oregon quickly turned into a blowout, as Oregon raced away to victory.

Elsewhere, Ohio State and Alabama eased through Iowa and Mississippi State to maintain their spots in the National Championship odds, while Georgia was on bye.

Take a peak at all the updated 2022-23 National Championship odds below.

Oregon Leaps to the Top of Pac-12  Rankings

With a dominant victory over previously unbeaten no. 9 UCLA, Dan Lanning’s Oregon Ducks made their case to be the Pac-12’s representative in the College Football Playoff.

Oregon quarterback Bo Nix threw for 285 yards and 5 touchdowns in the comfortable Ducks win. The Auburn transfer now has 25 combined scores on the season and looks every bit the dual-threat weapon he looked to be as a freshman. Much like the rest of the Oregon squad, Nix has settled nicely in the new offense after some growing pains to begin the year.

UCLA head coach Chip may have been the architect of Oregon’s explosive offense from 2007-2012 but his Bruins had no answer for the Oregon attack on Saturday. Oregon have now won six straight contests since an opening week demolition at the hands of Georgia. Moreover, Oregon is averaging 49 points per game during their streak under the guidance of offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham.

This high-powered offense will be tough to beat should they make the Pac-12 championship game. Ultimately, cannibalism at the top of the SEC and Big Ten conferences may cause the College Football Playoff panel to look favourably at the Pac-12 in December. Bettors cannot ignore this Oregon squad any longer.

TCU Keeps College Football Playoff Hopes Alive

The comeback kids of Texas Christian University were at it again on Saturday. Sonny Dykes’ Horned Frogs improved to 7-0 on the season with a come from behind victory over number 17 Kansas State.

Kansas State raced out to a 28-10 at the half, before four unanswered second half touchdowns from TCU. Quarterback Max Duggan was once again efficient in the victory, throwing for over 280 yards and three touchdowns. Speaking of explosive offenses, the Horned Frogs are now averaging over 500 yards of total offense and 42 points per game on the season.

An opportunistic TCU defense held the Kansas State offense to just 87 yards and 3.7 yards per play in the second half. Should the defense be able to replicate that performance in the coming weeks, this team could be a juggernaut.

With the victory, the Frogs have solidified their post-season hopes. A clear path to the College Football Playoff lies in front of this TCU squad. Should they be able to run the table, they’ll have as good a shot as anyone to finish in the final four. A sprinkle of your bankroll on TCU to win the National Championship at +10000 is hardly a bad idea. At the risk of upsetting the college football establishment, how much fun would a TCU vs Oregon College Football Playoff game be?
