The Buckeyes are 39.5-point favorites over Rutgers, which is 10.5 points more than any other team on the board is laying. The Crimson Tide easily covered their 49.5-point spread over UL Monroe in Week 3, but the Bulldogs didn’t fare so well against Kent State last Saturday. Georgia ultimately prevailed, but fell 29 points shy of covering the number.

Rutgers vs Ohio State Spread

Ohio State opened as 39-point favorites in their contest versus the Scarlet Knights, and bettors are pretty evenly split in the against the spread market. The Buckeyes are drawing 55% of the ATS wagers, and 51% of the betting handle.

After failing to cover in each of their first two contests, the Buckeyes have beaten the number in back-to-back outings. They beat conference foe Wisconsin by 31 points last week, after a 56-point win over Toledo in Week 3. Dating back to last season, they’re 6-3-1 against the spread in conference games, but just 6-5 ATS overall as a home favorite.

Rutgers is off to a 3-1 start, but is 0-for-8 all-time versus Ohio State. They’ve surrendered at least 50 points to the Buckeyes six times, and have lost by 39 or more points on six separate occasions.

Oklahoma State vs Baylor Spread

The smallest spread on the board in a contest featuring a ranked team is currently -2.5. Both #16 Baylor and #15 Washington are favored by that small number in their respective games, but we’re going to put the Huskies game on the back burner for a moment to touch on the Bears contest.

Baylor hosts Big 12 rival and ninth-ranked Oklahoma State, in a rematch of last year’s conference championship. The Bears upset the Cowboys to claim the Big 12 title, and bettors are all over them in this matchup. 65% of the against the spread wagers so far are backing Baylor, as is 72% of the ATS money.

Washington vs UCLA Total

Back to Washington now, as their matchup with Pac-12 foe UCLA features the highest total for any game involving a ranked team. The number currently sits at 64.5, but the betting action suggests this line might be on the way down.

56% of the over/under wagers and 62% of the money bet on the total as of Friday morning is on under 64.5. That’s certainly surprising given the strength of both of these offenses. The Huskies rank seventh in offensive efficiency, and average 44 points per game.

The Bruins meanwhile, boast the 28th most efficient offense in the country, averaging 41.8 points per game.

Michigan vs Iowa Total

For the third straight week, Iowa is involved our lowest totalled game. The Hawkeyes have yet to surrender more than 10 points a game, and have rewarded under bettors three times in four outings.

Their total versus #4 Michigan sits at 42, a number that’s hard to believe given the Wolverines’ offensive talent. Michigan is averaging 50 points per game and nearly 500 yards of total offense.  As good as Michigan’s offense is, their defense is just as strong. They’re yielding 11 points per outing, and rank just behind Iowa per Pro Football Focus’ metrics.

So far under bettors are buying a defensive struggle. 44% of the over/under bets are on under 42, as is 78% of the money wagered on the total. That means big money bettors, which are typically the sharps, are expecting an underwhelming offensive performance.

Purdue vs Minnesota Spread and Total

As far as the biggest move to a spread involving a ranked team, no team has seen more movement in their favor than #21 Minnesota. The undefeated Golden Gophers opened as the 8-point chalk against Purdue, but have been bet up to -12 and even -13 at some books.

There’s a good chance the line movement isn’t finished. 73% of the spread bets so far are on Minnesota, as is 87% of the ATS money. The Golden Gophers are 4-0 against the spread this year, outscoring their opponents 183-24.

Coincidentally, this game has also seen the biggest move to its total. The over/under opened at 58.5, but has been bet down 6.5 points. The line move is almost entirely based on sharp action, as 83% of the money wagered on the total is coming from just 33% of the over/under tickets. Don’t be surprised if this total drops even further.
