The stage is getting set for a potential Oregon vs Washington Pac-12 Title game that could decide both a CFP Playoff seed and the Heisman winner. Oregon QB Bo Nix has closed the gap on Washington pivot Michael Penix Jr. in the post-Week 10 Heisman odds.

Nix soared up the odds after putting on a clinic against California, while Penix remained the Heisman favorite after leading the Huskies past USC. LSU’s Jayden Daniels, meanwhile, is trending in the opposite direction after losing vs Alabama.

Bo Nix Heisman Odds

There was once a day in which we told sports bettors they were throwing away their money if they bet on Bo Nix to win the Heisman. Now, years later and wearing a different uniform, Nix might actually be the smart money to win the thing.

Nix soared in the Heisman odds after throwing four touchdown passes and running for two more scores in a 63-19 blowout victory over California in Week 10. FanDuel dropped Nix’s Heisman odds from +450 to +190 after the game.

Nix is getting hot at the right time, as this electric performance comes one week after the senior threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for another in a 35-6 victory at No. 13 Utah last weekend.

Nix has now thrown for 25 passing touchdowns this season, which is top-five in the country. He’s also rushed for five scores, which gives him an edge over other QBs who are more one-dimensional.

Nix will rightfully get Heisman talk following this performance, but his chance to actually win will likely come down to the Pac-12 Title game. Oregon is on a collision course with Washington, which would see Nix would go toe-to-toe with the current Heisman favorite, Michael Penix Jr.

Michael Penix Jr. Heisman Odds

While Nix was torching the Golden Bears Saturday, Washington pivot Michael Penix Jr. was doing exactly what he needed to do to maintain his spot atop the Heisman odds.

Penix Jr. passed for 256 yards and two scores as the Huskies remain undefeated with a 52-42 victory over No. 20 USC. Penix didn’t post monster numbers, but he delivered in key moments, including in the second quarter when he completed a 22-yard TD pass while running out of bounds.

Penix Jr. went from +270 to +150 at FanDuel following the victory, which is a decent boost but nothing that indicates he’s locked up the trophy. There’s no doubt he has the stats to win, throwing for a country-leading 2,945 yards so far this season, but a conference title would solidify his case.

Washington will likely face Oregon in the Pac-12 Title game, but Penix and the Huskies also shouldn’t look past Utah in Week 11. With Nix soaring up the Heisman board, Penix can’t afford to slip up in any of his remaining games.

Other Week 10 Heisman Odds Movement

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels did what he could against the Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 10, but since he came away with the loss, oddsmakers felt his “Heisman moment” was missed. Daniels dropped from +450 to +750 at FanDuel after the Tigers’ suffered their third loss of the season. Daniels exited the game in the fourth quarter following a hard hit, leaving his Week 11 status uncertain.

Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy also faded following Week 10 despiting throwing for over 335 yards in a win over Purdue. Considering FanDuel dropped McCarthy all the way from +400 to +1000, we’d guess this could also have to do with the ongoing UM sign-stealing investigation that could have ramifications on the current Wolverines team.

Georgia quarterback Carson Beck, meanwhile, is now a top-five Heisman favorite (+1000) after completing 21 of 32 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns in a win over No. 12 Missouri. Beck doesn’t have the flashy numbers as the top Heisman candidates, but he shouldn’t be counted out with UGA still remaining undefeated.
