  • No. 1 LSU earned the top seed after beating Georgia by 27 points in the SEC championship game
  • No. 4 Oklahoma defeated Baylor in overtime in the Big 12 championship game
  • The line has moved 3 points since its release thanks to a flood of action on the Tigers

No. 1 LSU faces No. 4 Oklahoma in the Peach Bowl and the opening odds show the Tigers are convincing favorites to reach the National Championship game.

Oklahoma vs LSU Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners +12.5 (-110) +330 Over 75.5 (-110)
No. 1 LSU Tigers -12.5 (-110) -460 Under 75.5 (-110)

Odds taken Dec. 8.

The line jumped from LSU -9.5 to LSU -11.5 within minutes of the matchups being released, and has since moved to LSU -12.5 in the College Football odds. If you’re as confident in the Tigers as I am my advice would be to bet this before the line continues to climb. Why am I so confident? Instead of the same “Joe Burrow is great” article you’ve read multiple times, here’s the case against Oklahoma instead.

Oklahoma 0-3 In College Football Playoff

We’ve seen this story before – a Heisman caliber quarterback leading a great Sooners offense into the college football playoff only to be sent home without a win. In fact it’s not only Oklahoma, it’s the entire Big 12 conference that has yet to win a game in the playoff. They are the only power 5 conference without a win since the tournament’s inception back in 2014.

The Sooners needed major help after losing to Kansas State and they got it. Georgia lost for a second time, as did Utah, Oregon and Alabama. The result is Oklahoma moon walking their way into the playoff as the team with the longest CFP odds remaining on the board. Couple that with their winless history and I have little confidence 2020 will be any different than years past.

LSU Offense vs Oklahoma Defense Will Be Major Issue

The biggest reason money is pouring in on LSU is the Tigers offense will run up and down the field against a mediocre Oklahoma defense. The Sooners rank 34th in defensive efficiency – for context the other three playoff teams rank 1st, 2nd and 13th. They simply aren’t good enough at stopping other offenses from scoring points to compete in this football game.

Oklahoma allowed more than 30 points four times this year and more than 40 points twice. Baylor and Houston both topped the 30-point mark, while Iowa State scored 41 and Kansas State put up 48 in the Sooners lone loss this year. The reality is none of those offenses come close to what Burrow and LSU are capable of. As good as Hurts may be, they won’t be able to score enough points to cover up the mistakes on defense.

Bet the Bayou Bengals and Bet Them Now

Making a wager at the correct time is very important. If you sit on this decision until kickoff the number could rise much, much further. The game won’t be played until December 28th and tying up your betting capital isn’t always the easiest thing to do but why not lay the points before this line gets out of hand? There won’t be a rush of Oklahoma bettors so a discount isn’t on the horizon if you’re betting LSU. The line will go higher and the money line will become less and less profitable so act now, before it’s too late.

PICK: LSU -12.5 (-110)
