It’s a clash of two tops teams in the SEC West division when Ole Miss and Texas A&M faceoff in Week 11 on Saturday, November 13th. The Aggies have opened as one-point road favorites at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Both Ole Miss and Texas A&M are 7-2 on the season entering Week 11. The Aggies beat Auburn to extend their winning streak to four games, while the Rebels have won three of their past four contests.

Aggie Defense Is Real Deal

Texas A&M will bring a four-game winning streak into their Week 11 matchup with Ole Miss. The Aggies won a defensive battle over Auburn in Week 10, holding the Tigers to 226 yards of total offense in a 20-3 victory.

Isaiah Spiller and Devon Achane both had big days on the ground, while Zach Calzada passed for 192 yards despite suffering an injury.

Texas A&M has won and covered the spread in four straight games primarily due to their stellar defense. The Aggies rank second in the country with 14.67 points allowed per game and got a big boost with senior DE Tyree Johnson returning from injury. Johnson recorded two of Texas A&M’s four sacks vs the Tigers.

Jimbo Fisher’s team remains in the hunt for the SEC West division title with upcoming games against Ole Miss, Prairie View A&M and LSU. They fell out of the CFP picture with two early-season SEC losses, but they’ve been rolling since upsetting Alabama on October 9th. The Aggies are 6-3 ATS on the year.

Explosive Rebels Battling Through Injury

Ole Miss rebounded from a tough loss to Auburn with a 27-14 victory over Hugh Freeze’s Liberty in Week 10. Heisman contender Matt Corral threw for 324 yards and a touchdown, while star running back Jerrion Ealy rushed for 115 yards and two TDs on 10 carries. The Rebels covered the spread as 7.5-point favorites.

Ole Miss did plenty of things well against the Flames, but there were also some negatives. While the Mississippi pass rush finished with nine sacks against Liberty, the Flames were able to gash the Ole Miss defense for 457 total yards of offense. On the season, the Rebels are allowing an average of 27 points and 431 yards per game.

Injuries are becoming one of the key storylines of Ole Miss’ 2021 season, as they remain without several key players. Two of the Rebels’ top-three pass catchers in Dontario Drummond (undisclosed) and Jonathan Mingo (foot) are currently injured. Mingo is out indefinitely, while Drummond is questionable against Texas A&M.

Expected Line Movement

Texas A&M has won the last three meetings against Ole Miss entering the latest showdown in Week 11. The Aggies have covered the spread as favorites vs the Rebels in three straight years, including a 24-17 victory in Mississippi two years ago. This will be their first time facing the Rebels with Lane Kiffin coaching, however.

While the Rebels possess one of the top favorites in the Heisman odds, the team’s injury concerns are likely going to turn public bettors away. Corral himself is even playing through injury and didn’t practise during the week leading up to the Liberty game. The Rebels are without nine total starters on offense.

Texas A&M is the healthier team, although the injury to Calzada is a concern. The sophomore pivot left the game against Auburn after taking a vicious hit, but returned wearing a knee brace and a shoulder brace. With Calzada injured, the Aggies will likely rely even more on their run game vs Ole Miss.

This line should move in Texas A&M’s direction considering how efficient they’ve been on defense.  Ole Miss has struggled against good defensive teams like Alabama and Auburn. The total may also get hit, as the “under” has cashed in four straight games for Mississippi as well as in the last four meetings between the Aggies and Rebels.
