Florida vs South Carolina Odds & Early Prediction

One line that stands out immediately is South Carolina (2-3, 2-0 home, 3-2 ATS) laying just a field goal at home to Florida (4-2, 0-2 away, 2-4 ATS). The Gators have one excellent win on their resume – a 29-16 win over rival Tennessee in Week 3. But their only two road games so far this year have been complete debacles. They were blown out 24-11 at Utah in their season-opener (a game they trailed 24-3 in the fourth quarter) and then routed 33-14 at Kentucky (a game they trailed 23-0 at one point).

South Carolina is 2-0 at home with wins over Furman (47-21) and Mississippi State (37-30), but their most impressive performance of the year was actually a loss. The Gamecocks gave #1 Georgia everything they could handle in Week 3, taking a 14-3 lead into halftime before fading down the stretch and falling 24-14 to the back-to-back national champions.

The Gators are suffering through a bit of a rebuild season, and South Carolina has the talent to hang with Florida this year. Given how dismal the Gators have looked on the road, fading them again here is the play.

Florida vs South Carolina Pick: Gamecocks -3 (-110)

Louisville vs Pitt Odds & Early Pick

Another line that looks soft out of the gate is the undefeated Louisville Cardinals (6-0, 1-0 away, 3-3 ATS) laying 9.5 to a languishing Pitt Panthers side (1-4, 1-2 home, 1-4 ATS). Louisville is coming off a massively impressive 33-20 demolition of then-#10 Notre Dame on the strength of five takeaways. The Cardinals bullied the Irish up front, rushing for 184 yards on 40 carries (4.6 YPC) while surrendering just 44 rushing yards on 28 attempts (1.6 YPC).

While Louisville has only technically played on road game (a 13-10 win at NC State as 3.5-point road favorites), they also beat Georgia Tech in Atlanta (39-34) and Indiana in Indianapolis (21-14). They’re more traveled than their record suggests on the surface.

Pitt still doesn’t have a win over an FBS team this year, only beating Wofford (45-7) in Week 1. They have since lost to Cincinnati (27-21 home), West Virginia (17-6 away), UNC (41-24 home), and Virginia Tech (38-21 away), which was the Hokies’ first Power 5 win this year.

Yardage-wise, Pitt has been outgained by an average of 345.5 yards to 263.3 in its four games to date against FBS competition. The offense has been so bad that starting QB Phil Jurkovic was practicing at tight end this week, leaving the first-team QB reps to sophomore Christian Veilleux. The Penn State transfer is just 12-of-27 (44.4%) this season for 145 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. In his first career start for Pitt, he’s going to be in tough against a turnover-happy Louisville defense.

Louisville vs Pitt Prediction: Cardinals -9.5 (-110)
