It’s one of the most one sided rivalry games in college football and the latest instalment will be played this Friday. The Oregon Ducks have won three straight and 11 of their last 12 against the Oregon State Beavers – and the odds reflect that.

The Ducks are 13.5-Point favorites and it feels like a bit of a trap line. They are clearly the better team but it certainly seems like the oddsmakers are trying to bait you into thinking they can cover two touchdowns.

Instead of messing with the fishy 13.5, let’s focus on the the total instead.

Oregon vs Oregon State Week 13 Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
#9 Oregon -13.5 (-113) -670 O 63.5 (-114)
Oregon State +13.5 (-108) +390 U 63.5 (-107)

Tyler Shough Has Been Solid

Justin Herbert was fantastic at Oregon and may well be the NFL Rookie of the Year. He’s been fantastic for the Los Angeles Chargers but his replacement in Eugene has been pretty good himself.

Tyler Shough has completed 66.3% of his passes for 873 yards and eight touchdowns in only three games.

Shough’s efficiency in the passing game also plays into betting the over. He’s no check-down-Charlie, he loves to air it out. The Ducks currently have eight receivers averaging 10+ yards per reception. Those are eye popping numbers that should give you confidence when Oregon’s offense is on the field.

The Ducks are riding a three game win streak in the rivalry and has won the games by 59, 40 and 14 points. While covering the spread is no guarantee, it’s comforting knowing they can rack up enough points on their own to get to the total even if the Oregon State offense has an off day.

Jermar Jefferson Poses Problem for Oregon

Beavers running back Jermar Jefferson is the reigning PAC-12 player of the week. In Oregon State’s first win of the season, he tallied 196 yards and a touchdown on only 18 carries. He now leads the conference with 449 yards through three games.

He’s the first Oregon State running back to open the season with three games over 100 yards in the last 17 years. Expect Jefferson to keep the chains moving, helping the Beavers to keep up with the Ducks potent offense.

The Junior from Harbor City, California isn’t exactly new on the scene. Coming into the season he had 2,065 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns. His performance early in the season isn’t so much a coming out party, but rather confirmation that he’s one of the scariest offensive forces in the Pac-12 conference.

Expect Recent Trends to Continue

Oregon and Oregon State have both seen their last two games go over the number. Pairing them together on the same field should result in fireworks. This one will be a great game to watch, especially if each touchdown you witness moves you closer to a big pay day. Consider placing this wager early before the number swells prior to kick off.

The Pick: Over 63.5 (114)
