The Horned Frogs have actually won six of their last seven meetings with the Bears, including a 30-28 victory in the 2021 season.

First Serious Test For TCU Offense

The Horned Frogs truly do have that good of an offense. It’s the best one in the Big 12, with QB Max Duggan and WR Quentin Johnston forming a dynamic partnership downfield. In fact,  Duggan has numerous weapons out wide including Derius Davis and Taye Barber as well. Then at running back, Kendre Miller is a star, averaging 6.6 yards per carry and rushing for 13 scores.

He actually played a key part in the Texas win, breaking the game wide open with an impressive 75-yard run to the house in the third quarter. While TCU is truly thriving at the moment, Baylor is the first legitimate defense they will face, ranking second in the conference behind only Iowa State. Texas actually managed to keep the Horned Frogs at bay to a certain extent. Duggan and Co. need to be a lot more efficient here but it won’t be easy.

Can Baylor be First Team to Beat TCU?

First off, history is not on Baylor’s side. They’ve captured just four victories since 2006 against TCU. But, the Bears do have a chance. As previously mentioned, the defense is truly good enough to come up with enough stops. Before the K-State defeat, they had eight takeaways in two games. Next, the run game has to get going.

All three of their backs, Richard Reese, Craig Williams, and Qualan Jones, are averaging over five yards per carry and can do serious damage. However, the TCU run defense is stout, allowing just 134.1 yards per game. Needless to say, the offense obviously needs to wake up and bounce back from a forgettable showing in Week 11, putting up a measly three points on the board. The defense can only do so much. QB Blake Shapen must be a lot sharper. The home crowd should help fire them up.

TCU vs Baylor Prediction

Personally, I don’t see Baylor beating TCU. The Bears might come up with some stops, but the Horned Frogs are too versatile offensively. They will adjust and find a way to put points up on the board, moving one step closer to an undefeated season. Take the visitors to cover.

Pick: TCU -2.5 (-110)
