 Cincinnati +1500

Odds as of Dec. 5 at DraftKings

Crimson Tide Won’t Be Denied

Alabama is the new betting favorite in the National Championship odds after dominating Georgia 41-24 in the SEC Championship. QB Bryce Young set an SEC Championship record with 461 yards of total offense as the Tide captured their sixth conference title in eight years.

Alabama is back to being the betting favorite in the Title odds after being overtaken by Georgia early in the season. The Crimson Tide recently faded to +400 after narrow victories against Arkansas and Auburn, but they improved to +120 after dominating UGA.

Alabama will face Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl, where they have opened as heavy -13.5-point favorites. There’s some injury concerns for the Tide entering the CFP, as WR John Metchie suffered a knee injury against Georgia. It’s believed Metchie torce his ACL and will miss the College Football Playoff.

Alabama still has star Jameson Williams healthy, but he’s going to be a primary focus for opposing defenses with Metchie out. Leading rusher Brian Robinson Jr is also playing through an injury, so it won’t be easy for the Tide. Alabama has won three National Titles in the past six years.

Bulldogs Down But Not Out

Georgia faded from -125 to +120 in the CFP National Championship odds after losing the SEC Championship against Georgia. Those odds lengthened further (+140) after it was officially announced the Bulldogs would be facing Michigan in the CFP Semifinal. UGA has opened as 7-point favorites.

Georgia was the undisputed No. 1 team in the country entering Saturday, but they were put in their place by Alabama. Georgia’s defense had only been giving up 6.9 points per game, but the Crimson Tide were able to gash the Bulldogs for over 500 yards of offense and 41 points.

The primary concern for UGA is at quarterback, as Stetson Bennett threw two costly picks in the loss to Alabama. Bennett is more of a game-manager type and hasn’t shown the ability to get it done in big games. There’s speculation JT Daniels may start at quarterback for Georgia against Michigan.

You don’t want to bet Georgia in the National Championship odds unless it’s confirmed Daniels is healthy and starting. The USC transfer is 7-0 in his UGA career and has fantastic chemistry with WR George Pickens. Georgia could still lose to Michigan either way, as the Wolverines are the nation’s hottest team.

Michigan or Cincinnati Best Longshot?

Michigan and Cincinnati are both longshots in the updated CFP National Championship odds after Week 14. The Wolverines dominated Iowa 42-3 in the Big Ten Championship Game, while the Bearkats beat Houston 35-20 to win the AAC Championship.

Cincinnati and Michigan had closer odds following their respective Title games, but the final CFP rankings created further separation. Oddsmakers clearly like the Wolverines chances of beating Georgia more than they do Cincinnati’s chances of beating Alabama.

It’s hard to justify a longshot wager on the Bearkats despite their impressive season. They’re facing an Alabama powerhouse that has won five straight CFP Semifinal games by an average margin of 20 points. There was much better value with Luke Fickell’s team earlier in the year.

Michigan, on the other hand, is the longshot team you want to seriously consider in the CFP National Championship odds. They’ve won and covered the spread in five straight games and boast a lethal pass-rush tandem in Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo. If UGA doesn’t have Daniels, Michigan is the best bet to dethrone Alabama.
