The Green Bay Packers are poised to extend their current regular season win streak on home turf to 11 games when they host the division rival Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football as heavy 12.5-point favorites. The Packers come out of their Week 13 bye sporting a comfortable three-game lead atop the NFC North standings. The Bears hit the road in the wake of last weekend’s 33-22 loss to the Arizona Cardinals that marked their sixth straight up defeat in seven outings.

Bears vs Packers Line Movement

Sunday night’s matchup marks the second and final meeting of the season between these teams. The Packers have dominated in head-to-head action over the past decade, claiming outright wins in 20 of 23 overall clashes with the Bears. That run includes SU wins in each of their past five dates at Lambeau Field. Green Bay has also regularly rewarded loyal sports bettors when facing the Bears, posting against the spread wins in their past five overall. However, the Pack have largely been a betting disappointment when battling Chicago as double-digit chalk, going 1-4-1 ATS since 1996.

The spread has held steady since opening with Green Bay pegged as a 12.5-point favorite. However, the Bears have emerged as a -120 bet to cover. The total has steadily faded to 42.5 since opening at 45.5, with -115 odds favoring the OVER.

Chicago Bears Outlook

The Bears failed to maintain any momentum gained from their 16-14 Thanksgiving Day win in Detroit while falling to the Cardinals last weekend. For the fifth time in six outings, the Bears surrendered the first score, and have now tallied just three total first-quarter points over that stretch. That trend has been a huge factor in Chicago’s continued struggles to generate offence, while scoring an average of just 16.7 points per game over their past seven.

Considering the Bears’ continued injury woes, things are unlikely to get any easier on Sunday night. Rookie passer Justin Fields is expected to start in place of injured veteran Andy Dalton, whether he is ready or not. Fields suffered cracked ribs in the team’s Week 11 loss to Baltimore, and is admittedly not yet pain free.

The former Ohio State Buckeyes star was making steady progress before getting hurt, tossing for four scores over his past five outings. However, Fields leads a battered and bruised Bears attack that could be missing receiver Marquise Goodwin, who is nursing a foot injury. Rusher David Montgomery was also limited at practice this week as he continues to wrestle with a variety of injuries. However, receiver Allen Robinson II looks set to return after missing the past three games with a hamstring injury.

Green Bay Packers Outlook

The Packers extended their recent dominance at Lambeau Field with last weekend’s 36-28 win over the Los Angeles Rams. That clash was not as close as the score indicates, with the Rams scoring their final 11 points in garbage time. The Green Bay defence has been dominant during the team’s home win streak, with last week’s contest marking the first time the team has allowed more than 17 points in a regular season home game since their 41-25 win over Chicago in Week 12 of last season.

The defence’s steady performance has given quarterback Aaron Rodgers plenty of time to return to form since being briefly sidelined by Covid-19. Rodgers has tossed for six touchdowns and run for an additional score over his past two outings. He has also systematically dismantled the Chicago defence while connecting on 10 total scoring passes over his past three dates with the Bears.

The Pick: OVER 42.5 (-105) – 1 unit
