The Chicago Bears aim to end a four-game losing streak when they visit the Green Bay Packers as 9-point underdogs in the NFL Week 12 odds.

The Packers can take a huge step towards clinching top spot in the NFC North with a win on Sunday Night Football. However, Green Bay has struggled to produce consistent results since opening their season on an impressive 4-0 run, going 3-3 in their past six, capped by last weekend’s 34-31 loss in Indianapolis.

Clear skies and chilly temperatures are expected when the latest edition of NFL’s oldest rivalry kicks off at Lambeau Field at 8:20pm ET.

Line Movement And SNF Trends

The point spread has inched marginally in Green Bay’s favor since opening Packers -8.5. However, with the Bears’ offense faltering badly during their current 0-4 slide, the point total has taken a small dip since opening at 45.5, tumbling to 44 as of Sunday morning, with the potential to drop further ahead of game time.

The small total is unsurprising, considering the outcome of recent prime time clashes involving Chicago. Losers in five of eight prime time appearances, including a pair of woeful performances on Sunday Night Football during that stretch, the Bears have seen the total go UNDER 40 in eight of their past nine games under the lights.

Conversely, the Packers have averaged over 33 points per game while winning outright in three prime time appearances this season, and have dominated Chicago under the lights, winning four straight including their past three meetings at Lambeau Field.

Can Trubisky Kickstart Moribund Bears Offense?

Sunday night’s contest marks the return of Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. Benched during the team’s 30-26 win over Atlanta back in Week 3, Trubisky has not seen action since.

However, with Nick Foles hobbled by a hip injury, the Bears’ playoff hopes are now in Trubisky’s hands. The 26-year-old saw his numbers steadily fade after opening the season with a three-TD performance in a 27-23 win over Detroit, tossing for three additional scores against three picks, and averaging just 159 passing yards per game in two subsequent appearances.

Trubisky has also turned in mixed results in five previous dates with Green Bay, tossing just four scoring passes against three picks, and getting sacked 18 times, while leading the Bears to just one win, a 24-17 victory at Soldier Field two years ago.

However, it is tough to lay the blame for the Bears’ offensive woes solely at the feet of the team’s pivots. Chicago’s offensive line has been decimated by injury, most notably to left guard James Daniels and right tackle Bobby Massie, and the team’s struggling ground game has not been helped by the absence of rusher David Montgomery, who returns from injury on Sunday searching for his first scoring run in five games.

Rodgers Poised For Big Performance

Across the gridiron, Aaron Rodgers has enjoyed a spectacular campaign. The 36-year-old has connected on 29 TD passes, and leads the league with a sparkling 115.8 passer rating.

Rodgers has had plenty of help from an offensive line that has allowed him to get sacked just four times in the past five outings, but has failed to rack up prolific numbers in recent dates with the Bears, tossing for just two scores in his past three games against Chicago, including a 10-3 win in Chicago in their most recent prime time matchup last season.

Winners in 17 of their past 20 overall meetings the past decade, the Packers have simply dominated Chicago. The Bears have managed to stay within striking distance of Green Bay while losing four straight, allowing just 23 points per game. A respectable Bears defense has also been steady this season, not allowing more than 26 points in a game.

But with Rodgers at his vintage best, and his favorite target Davante Adams looking to have put his injury woes behind him, Green Bay is poised to top 30 points for the eighth time this season against a Bears squad that could struggle to keep the offense on the field.

The Pick: UNDER 44 (-110)
