  • The 4-3 Cowboys travel to New York for a Monday Night matchup with the 2-6 Giants
  • The Giants come off a 31-26 loss at Detroit, while the Cowboys were idle last week
  • Dallas must win to remain in sole possession of 1st-place in the NFC East

Monday Night Football features an NFC East matchup in Week 9, as the 2-6 Giants will play host to the 4-3 Cowboys at MetLife Stadium. The will be the second game between these divisional foes, but the Cowboys vs Giants odds paint a picture of two teams that have changed a lot since their Week 1 meeting.

Dallas Cowboys vs New York Giants Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Cowboys -7 (-115) -340 O 48 (-110)
Giants +7 (-105) +285 U 48 (-110)

*Odds from 10/27/19

In their first matchup, the Cowboys took home a 35-17 victory on the arm of Dak Prescott. The Cowboy quarterback had 405 yards passing and four touchdowns when he last faced the Giant defense. Things have changed for New York, however, with Daniel Jones having taken over for Eli Manning as starting quarterback.

Giants Looking to Bounce Back

Jones has seen his ups and downs in New York, and while he had a strong individual performance on Sunday, the Giants couldn’t come away with a victory. Despite throwing for 322 yards and four touchdowns on the road, New York fell to the Lions by a score of 31-26.

Pat Shurmur’s team has now lost four straight, and going on the road to a divisional foe, especially one coming off a bye, means that number could continue to rise.

Cowboys Off a Bye

Jason Garrett’s team enters Monday Night well rested and well prepared, and they know this is a game that they have to win. Prior to the bye week, Dallas had lost three of their last four games. They did grab a 37-10 win over Philadelphia just before the bye, but if they lose on Monday, it doesn’t bode well for a Cowboy team that will be on the road in three of the next four weeks.

While things are seemingly hanging on by a thread in Dallas, they still hold a slim lead in the NFC East. A win on Monday will retain the Cowboys’ one-game lead over the Eagles. A loss, however, means that Dallas is no longer in sole possession of first place.

How Much Line Movement Should You Expect?

Both of these teams have a straight-up record that is very similar their record against the spread. Dallas is 4-3 in both categories, while the Giants are just 2-6 straight-up, but only 3-5 against the spread. There was initial excitement in New York when Daniel Jones took over for Eli Manning, and while Jones has certainly played well, the team’s overall performance has quelled much of the hype.

While the Cowboys hit a rough patch prior to the bye week, they have also shown flashes of true dominance in 2019. With Dallas being well rested coming off a bye, many expect this team to bounce back in a big way on Monday night. Through the coming week, expect this line to move towards the Cowboys.
