Eagles Halt Three-Game Slide
Philadelphia finished off its third straight road contest with a convincing 31-13 win over Buffalo as a 1-point underdog in Week 8. The victory evened their record at 4-4 going into next Sunday’s matchup with the Bears at Lincoln Financial Field.
Sunday’s win marked a dramatic turnaround for the Eagles following defeats in Minnesota and Dallas. Philadelphia tallied just 30 total points in their two recent road losses, but topped that total against the Bills, extending a trend that has seen the team score at least 31 points in each of its four victories this season.
Philly a Betting Disappointment on Home Turf
The Eagles have been favorited in 11 straight home contests, but are just 1-2 ATS at Lincoln Financial Field this season. Philadelphia saw the betting line tilt steadily in favor of Detroit ahead of their eventual Week 3 loss, but rebounded to cover as heavy double-digit favorites over the then-winless New York Jets two weeks later.
#NFLFirstDown Matthew Stafford threw a touchdown pass to Marvin Jones, Jamal Agnew returned a kickoff 100 yards for a score and the Detroit Lions held on for a 27-24 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

A string of disappointing performances against the spread on home turf hasn’t helped the Eagles at the sportsbooks. Dating back to last season, the Eagles have won outright in five of six home games, but are a meager 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games in Philly.
Bears Take Losing Streak on the Road
The Bears hit the road after seeing their current losing streak extend to three games thanks to a 17-16 loss to the Chargers on Sunday. Chicago failed to cover as 3.5-point home favorites and now sit last in the NFC North standings.

The Bears enjoyed a much needed boost in offensive production, outpacing the Chargers in total yards by a 388-231 margin, but failed to capitalize on several opportunities, scoring just one touchdown in five marches into the Los Angeles red zone.
Coach Nagy Facing Tough Decisions
Beleaguered Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky threw for a season-high 253 yards in Chicago’s second home defeat of the season, but failed to connect in the end zone for the second time in three outings. Trubisky also tossed one interception, and his fourth-quarter fumble eventually turned into a game-winning score for the Chargers. With the 3-4 Bears’ season now at a crossroads, and Trubisky’s future in Chicago looking increasingly precarious, head coach Matt Nagy’s personnel decisions this week have the potential to dramatically impact the line in Sunday’s contest.
This brutal loss…at home…to a bad Chargers team is a train wreckoning for Matt Nagy & Mitchell Trubisky. I think they lost the fan base/city. #Bears pic.twitter.com/wUDmlqVskL

Further complicating matters is the uncertain status of linebacker Isaiah Irving, who left Sunday’s loss to Philadelphia with a lower-body injury. The Bears’ defensive depth is already hurting thanks to injuries to Akiem Hicks and Bilal Nichols, and cannot afford to lose anyone else.
Early Line Movement Likely to Favor Eagles
Despite their struggles, the Bears have remained resilient on the NFL game line odds. Chicago saw the line move steadily in its favor ahead of the first two losses on their current slide, including in Week 5 when Trubisky was sidelined with a shoulder injury.

That resilience developed after the Bears briefly silenced critics with a 16-6 win over the Vikings as short home favorites in Week 4. But with the Bears now searching for answers, and the Eagles returning home on a high following a much-needed win, any early line movement is likely to favor Philadelphia.
