Jared Goff Could Have Monster Game Versus Seahawks

In Week 4 last season, Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions had an absolute barnburner against the Seahawks, which was eventually won 48-45 by Seattle. In that contest, Jared Goff threw for 378 yards. For his last seven games against the Seahawks, he’s thrown for at least 293 yards in all but one of them.

He’ll be up against those same Seahawks in Week 2, which had their troubles stopping Matthew Stafford and the Rams in Week 1. In that game, Stafford threw 334 yards against Pete Carroll’s squad. Seattle is expected to get #5 overall draft pick cornerback Devon Witherspoon in the lineup, which will make things a bit tougher for Goff to reach his passing yardage total.

Last year, Goff was sixth in total passing yards, and in Week 1 against the Chiefs, he posted 253 yards through the air. With his previous success against a suspect Seahawks secondary, he should go over his passing total.

Matthew Stafford Struggles Against 49ers

Matthew Stafford was the beneficiary of that aforementioned Seahawks leaky secondary last Sunday to the tune of 334 yards. His passing yardage total will rise because of that, but historically, he doesn’t light up the vaunted San Fran D.

In his last four affairs against the 49ers, his high water mark is 254 yards, and he sports a 1-7 record against them. Additionally, San Fran dominated Pittsburgh 30-7 in Week 1.

Even though Stafford torched Seattle in Week 1, he’s still without his number one weapon in Cooper Kupp. Expect a far better Niners D to be able to suffocate him (they had five sacks against the Steelers), to keep his passing total low.

Nick Chubb Coming Off Strong First Game

Nick Chubb picked up right where he left off last season, as he posted 106 yards on the ground in the season opener against the Bengals. Chubb was third in rushing last season (1,525 yards), and the Browns stud running back has gone for at least 77 yards in seven of his last eight duels.

In their first game against San Fran, the Steelers were gashed on the ground, allowing 188 yards, which was third worst in the NFL in the opening weekend.

For his career, Chubb has excelled against his AFC North foes, running for an average of 79 yards in his last eight contests. With that in mind, his over rushing total could occur yet again on Monday Night Football in the NFL player props.
