Betting Analysis

What a difference a season makes – in last year’s Super Bowl LVI campaign, the Rams had the eighth-highest points per game average. In 2022, things have dramatically shifted, as they’re fourth from the bottom. It was a struggle even before WR Cooper Kupp and QB Matthew Stafford went down with injuries, and it’s not getting easier. LA has dropped six of seven, and has scored more than 20 points just twice this year.

Backup QB John Wolford is expected to suit up, but there’s a very real chance that they’ll have to turn to third-string undrafted QB Bryce Perkins. In a small sample size, he’s gone 6-for-11 for 61 yards, with no TD’s or INT’s and three sacks. He’s also rushed for 43 yards. The Rams have allowed at least 27 points in three of their last four games, and they’ll be in tough against a fierce Chiefs squad.

As for the Chiefs, they continue to hum along, as winners of four in a row. Only once this season have they failed to record more than 20 points. They are dealing with some injuries to their offensive skill position players, yet that hasn’t stopped them from recording the highest yards per game and the most points per contest.

The Rams have the 13th-best team according to Pro Football Focus (27th on offense, 4th on defense). Their counterparts are 2nd overall (the best offense and 12th on D).

Injury Report

As mentioned, starting QB Matthew Stafford is out – joining him are Cooper Kupp (on injured reserve), along with C Brian Allen, DT A’Shawn Robinson and LB Travin Howard. WR Allen Robinson and TE Tyler Higbee are questionable, along with two others.

The Chiefs won’t have RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (ankle), who was placed on IR. WR Kadarius Toney is out with a hamstring injury. Three others, including OL Joe Thuney, are questionable.

74% of the handle has been placed for the Chiefs to cover the 15.5 point spread, with a 81% of bets on the over in Rams vs Chiefs NFL betting trends, with a whopping 91% of bets placed on the Chiefs to win on the moneyline.

Rams vs Chiefs Prediction

The 15.5-point spread for the Chiefs is daunting, particularly because they haven’t covered that number in their last three contests. However, this Rams team has lost six of their last seven games, though just one of them was by more than 15.5 points.

LA’s defense has kept them in enough games, despite the litany of losses piling up. In their last three defeats, it was by a combined 20 points. Three of their last four contests have gone over the listed 41.5 points, while six of the Chiefs’ last seven have gone over the mark as well.

The Pick:

  • Rams +15.5 (-110); 1 unit to win 0.91 units
  • Over 41.5 points (-110) 1 unit to win 0.91 units

2022 record: 13-15; -2.11 units
