Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers (6-5-1) will travel to Minneapolis, MN to get it on with the Minnesota Vikings (5-7) Thursday night. We can catch all the action on FOX as kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 pm ET. Weather won’t factor in this one as US Bank Stadium is an indoor venue.

The Steelers are coming off of what many are calling their most impressive win all season last Sunday. They took care of the division rival Baltimore Ravens 20-19 in a game that came down to the last second. The Vikings last game also came down to the wire but they were on the losing end of a 29-27 game against the lowly Detroit Lions.

The most current odds are showing the Vikings as 3-point favorites even after last week’s debacle. The total sits at just 43 as bettors aren’t feeling the two offenses. Just like every other NFL game, there are plenty of player props to consider.

  • Due to some Vikings injuries, not all of their players have props at the time of publishing.

It’s Tyler Time!

The Minnesota Vikings are a fun team. I define fun as a team that like to pass the ball and the Vikings are certainly that. On the season they are top 10 in the NFL in pass attempts per game throwing the ball an average of 37.5 times per contest.

Naturally, we want to find a guy that catches balls and the first guy that comes to my mind is Tyler Conklin.

Adam Thielen went down last week for the Vikings and I doubt he plays Thursday night. Although Justin Jefferson gets all the shine, as he should, Thielen still accounts for 21% of the target share for Minnesota. Replacing that guy will be a team effort and I think our guy Tyler Conklin is a team guy that’s up for the challenge.

On the season, Conklin has been producing. He has already caught 47 balls for 469 yards which is way more than even he expected since Irv Smith Jr. was supposed to be the tight end this season. Conklin has already made the most of one injury, so why not another. Last week he saw the most targets he’s seen all season so there’s reason to be optimistic.

The Vikings get a Steelers team that isn’t horrible against the tight end position but they aren’t great either. Tight ends have produced 583 receiving yards on the season which is right below middle of the pack in the NFL. The thing is, we don’t need this guy to be special Thursday night to get home on this number. I believe in Tyler Conklin and you should too.

Diontae Gets Home

We legit have to have a touchdown scorer prop for a standalone primetime NFL game. It’s the only way I want to live. If betting these is wrong then I simply don’t want to be right. My mind will never change on this matter.

Since that’s the case, I think it would be borderline criminal to not have a Diontae Johnson touchdown scorer prop Thursday night.

First of all, Diontae Johnson is an absolute animal. He’s already caught 76 passes this season and has almost eclipsed 1,000 yards with those catches. I think he does that this game. But this isn’t a catches and yards bet, this is a touchdown bet. Don’t worry, Diontae has already caught six this season and two just last week.

The Minnesota Vikings are the perfect opponent since they give up touchdown catches to receivers like it’s their job. In fact, only two teams in the entire NFL have given up more touchdowns to the position than the Vikings this season. I bet Johnson gets them at least once Thursday night.

  • Pick: Diontae Johnson Anytime TD Scorer (+120) – Wager 1 unit to win 1.2 units
  • SBD 2021 Touchdown Scorer prop record: 18-30, -2.96 units
