- Is Clowney a good fit in Tennessee? What other teams merit serious consideration?
- Examinaton of the odds, along with picks and predictions on the outcome of this situation are in the story below
Jadeveon Clowney is a titan among NFL pass rushers, and could be wearing a Titans jersey very soon.
Speculation is that both Tennessee, and the Seattle Seahawks, Clowney’s team last season, have each presented multiple contract offers to the three-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman.
Oddsmakers are of the opinion that the Titans are in the driver’s seat when it comes to acquiring Clowney’s services. Bookmakers are listing Tennessee as the +150 favorite to get Clowney’s signature on a contract.
The Cleveland Browns (+300) are second choice in this betting market, followed by the Indianapolis Colts (+400).

Titans Going All In
In 2018, the Kansas City Chiefs lost the AFC Championship Game. Last season, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl after beating the Titans in the AFC title game.
Tennessee would like nothing more than for history to repeat itself. Adding a pass-rushing presence of Clowney’s ilk would only help the Titans’ cause.
I'm told the Seattle Seahawks and the Tennessee Titans are still interested in Jadeveon Clowney. Both teams have made multiple offers, but nothing that matches Clowney's desired price tag. Sources believe "he is just not in a hurry to sign".

Already, Tennessee signed quarterback Ryan Tannehill to a new contract and hung the franchise tag on 2019 NFL rushing leader Derrick Henry. The Titans are definitely going for it in 2020.
Last season, Tennessee was tied for 13th in the NFL with 43 sacks. But Clowney’s arrival could make Tennessee’s pass rush electric.
Clowney’s Number Up In Seattle?
There was a kerfuffle of sorts in Seattle last week. Seahawks defensive tackle Jarran Reed announced via social media that he was reclaiming #90. Reed had relinquished the digits when Clowney was acquired last season by Seattle and wore #91.
However, GM John Schneider was quick to go public with proclamations that he’d not approved of any number switch by Reed. Shortly thereafter, Reed deleted his tweet.
#Seahawks DT Jarran Reed says he’s going back to No. 90 — which is the same number Jadeveon Clowney wore in Seattle. Clowney had to pay Reed to get that number last season. With Clowney still unsigned, Reed says he’s taking it back. 🤔 pic.twitter.com/4FY1zy2yJS

Schneider is insisting that the Seahawks are still very much interested in retaining Clowney’s services.
Last week, the Seahawks released veteran offensive linemen DJ Fluker and Justin Britt. The moves provide Seattle with about $20 million in salary cap space – more than enough to satisfy Clowney’s demands.
Colts, Eagles Willing to Pony Up
Depending upon which published report you check, Clowney is in the market a deal worth anywhere from $13-18 million per season.
Is it just me or would the addition of Jadeveon Clowney put an enormous bow on this offseason for the Colts? https://t.co/fnbqcXE60J

NFL sources are indicating that both the Colts and the Philadelphia Eagles would be willing to ante up significant money to land Clowney. However, those same sources are suggesting that Clowney isn’t excited about playing for either of those teams.
Clowney In No Hurry
If last season taught us anything, it’s that Clowney is willing to wait patiently to get what he wants. He sat out all of training camp last season, forcing the Houston Texans to trade him to the Seahawks.
John Schneider on Jadeveon Clowney: "At some point you need to move on, keep conducting business. You have to keep moving or you are going to get beat."
Pete Carroll: "It's a pretty good feeling for him still being out there" Says JS "will jump back in" if opportunity arises

Both Seattle and Tennessee feel they’re one fierce pass rusher away from Super Bowl contention. Clowney is a definite disruptor. He recorded 18.5 sacks over 2017-18. The past three seasons, he’s forced seven fumbles and recovered eight.
If Seattle was going to get him, you’d think it would’ve happened by now. That’s why the Titans are the choice.
Pick: Tennessee Titans (+150)
