The Miami Dolphins are arguably the worst team in the NFL.  They are winless through five games and have struggled mightily against all their opponents, except for this week when they took on another winless team in the Washington Redskins.

The Buffalo Bills, meanwhile, are 4-1 and are a surprise team to many and could very well be playoff bound this year. The Dolphins vs. Bills odds & stats have Buffalo as a -16.5-point favorites entering the week.

Miami Dolphins vs. Buffalo Bills Spread

Team Spread
Miami Dolphins +16.5 (-115)
Buffalo Bills -16.5 (-105)

How Will the Spread Change?

I suspect we will see the spread change quite a bit throughout the week, as I believe it opened too high for the Bills.

The spread, I think should go down two to three points and be in the -14.5 or -13.5 range for Buffalo. There is no question Buffalo should win this game, but we have seen their offense struggle to put up points, and their defense rarely allows any. The early money will probably be on the Miami Dolphins.

Quarterback Josh Allen has also struggled with interceptions so the Dolphins could score some points from having good field position from turnovers.

What’s the Best Bet?

Given I think the spread should be lower, I believe the Miami Dolphins are the best bet right now at +16.5. Buffalo has only scored into the 20’s twice this season, with the other three games they scored 17,10 and 14, meaning their offense have struggled to score points. Two of those games were against okay defenses in the New York Jets and Tennesse Titans.

However, something going against the Miami Dolphins is their offense and quarterback play. Josh Rosen has not been good for them and he was even benched against Washington. But, the team confirmed he will start next week against Buffalo, as the team has confidence in him.

“It’s settled, I like where Josh is,” head coach Brian Flores said (via NFL.com). “I think he’s improving on a week to week basis, I think he’s a young, talented player. I think he needs to get in there and develop and get reps and just improve.”

Although I believe the Buffalo Bills will win this game rather easily, I don’t believe their offense is good enough to win by 17 points. So, right now, at this spread, the Miami Dolphins are the best bet.

Pick: Miami Dolphins (+16.5)
