The Devils are the fifth choice in the Stanley Cup odds at +1200. The Panthers are the ninth choice at +1600. Florida are -135 favorites in this contest that features a total of 6.5 goals.

Puck drop is set for 7:00 pm ET at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, FL with TNT broadcasting the game in the United States.

New Jersey Devils Betting Analysis

After losing their first two games of the campaign, the Devils went on a massive heater, with a ridiculous 21-2-1 stretch. They’ve hit a rough patch, dropping six in a row, and in the last four games have scored one goal on three occasions and two goals once.

For the season they’re stingy allowing goals, surrendering just 2.53 a game (third in the NHL), and they’re eighth in goals per game (3.38). Goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood is expected to get the nod after he had to come in for a period of relief for a struggling Vitek Vanecek on Tuesday. He had just been activated off IR (knee), and saw his first NHL action since November 3rd.

Before the injury, Blackwood had the worse numbers of the Devils’ three netminders (2.80 GAA, .879 save %). However, in his last five starts, he’s allowed two or fewer goals in four instances. With him not seeing the ice against elite competition in a while, there is bound to be some rust.

Florida Panthers Betting Analysis

After winning the Presidents Trophy last season with the most points in the NHL (122), the Panthers have been something of an enigma this campaign. They have 14 regulation losses after amassing just 18 all of last season. They haven’t had a winning streak of longer than two games, but also haven’t endured a skid of more than three contests.

To illustrate how wholly average they’ve been, Florida has scored the same amount of goals (110), than they’ve allowed. They’re struggled on special teams, as they’re 26th on the power play and 20th on the penalty kill. Offseason acquisition Matthew Tkachuk more than lived up to the billing, as he’s pacing them with 39 points, which is eleven more than their second-highest point getter (Carter Verhaeghe).

2/11/2020 NJ 3 – FLA 5 FLA FLA Over

Where there is some value in making a pick in this affair, it’s important to note their recent duels, with Florida getting the better of David Puddy’s favorite squad in five of their last six.

Devils vs Panthers Pick

Despite their shaky stretch, the Devils are still far exceeding expectations, as they’re second in the Metro. However, they’ve been especially poor in Sunrise, where they’ve dropped seven of their last eight affairs.
