  • The Oilers are -115 road favorites in Game 1 in their second-round playoff series against the Golden Knights Wednesday (May 3rd) at 9:30pm ET
  • Edmonton defeated Los Angeles in 6 games, while Vegas took down Winnipeg in 5 in Round 1
  • Keep reading for the complete Oilers vs Golden Knights odds, plus best bets

A highly anticipated second-round series is set to start Wednesday, featuring the Oilers and Golden Knights. They were the top-two teams in points in the Western Conference. Edmonton faced a difficult challenge in Round 1, before dispatching the LA Kings in 6 duels. Vegas was able to handily defeat Winnipeg in 5 contests following a slew of injuries for the Jets.

This season, Edmonton picked up seven out of a possible eight points (3-0-1) versus the Golden Knights. At least seven goals were totaled between these two juggernauts in each meeting. However, the Oilers have dropped six straight Game 1’s, dating back to 2020.

Despite having two fewer points in the regular season, Edmonton begins this series as a -150 favorite to make the Western Conference Finals for the second straight season. That’s an implied win probability of 60%. Vegas is +130 to advance to the West Final for the fourth time in six seasons. Read on for Oilers vs Golden Knights analysis.

Edmonton Oilers Betting Analysis

It wasn’t easy for the Edmonton Oilers in their first-round series, with the LA Kings taking them to six games. They dropped two of the first three tilts, but responded well with three straight victories. Half the games went to overtime, with the Oilers losing a pair of them.

Leon Draisaitl was a man on a mission against Los Angeles. He racked up seven goals, which tied the Avs Mikko Rantanen for tops in the postseason. Drasaitl’s eleven points are one-off matching the Stars’ Roope Hintz for the most in round one.

Captain Connor McDavid had just one assist in the first two duels but responded with three markers and six helpers in the subsequent four games. The power play was lethal, operating at an otherworldly 56.3% clip, after leading the NHL with a 32.4% mark in the regular season. Goaltender Stuart Skinner will need to be better after surrendering at least three goals in five of six games, for a pedestrian .890 save percentage.

The Oilers are 10-1 in their last eleven after scoring five or more goals in their previous game. They’re also 7-1 in their last eight when their opponent allows two goals or less in their previous game.

Vegas Golden Knights Betting Analysis

After losing game 1 by a count of 5-1 to Winnipeg, the Vegas Golden Knights easily dispatched the Jets the following four games, scoring at least four goals on every occasion. They were facing a shorthanded Winnipeg squad that was missing several key pieces, and Vegas took advantage of that. Their 3.80 goals/game ranked fourth in the postseason.

Vegas will have to be careful on the penalty kill, as they face the fierce Oilers. They were an abysmal 58.3% on the PK in round one, which was second-worst in hockey. Goaltender Laurent Brossoit, a former Oiler, put up solid stats, with a .915 save % and 2.42 GAA.

Mark Stone’s return following a three-month absence (back), couldn’t have come at a better time. He tied the team lead with eight points (with Chandler Stephenson). Ten Knights put up at least three points in round one. The Golden Knights are 6-1 in their last seven when their opponent scores five goals or more in their previous game. Interestingly, the over goal total has been hit on six of those seven occasions.

Oilers vs Golden Knights Pick & Prediction

Bettors believe that Vegas draw first blood in the series, with 61% of moneyline bets placed on them thus far. Our model has this Oilers vs Golden Knights game going the road team’s way 3.66-3.57.

The fact Edmonton gets off to slow starts with six straight Game 1 losses sticks out like a sore thumb, however. These two squads are first and fourth in scoring this postseason so goals should be aplenty. The over is 8-2 in Oilers’ last ten Conference Semifinals games.

Pick: Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline (-105), Over 6.5 Goals (-105)
