After the first period of Game 4, the Los Angeles Kings had the Edmonton Oilers on the ropes with a 3-0 edge. Had they held onto the lead, they’d have held a 3-1 series strange hold, but Oil Country stormed all the way back to win 5-4 in overtime on Zach Hyman’s first goal of the series.

Three of the first four games of this tilt have required overtime, with Los Angeles taking games 1 and 3, and Edmonton finally taking one on Sunday. The Oilers won the other contest 4-2, back in game 2.

Heading into the series, the Oilers were heavy -220 favorites to advance to the second round. That number got as short as -120 headed into Game 4, but now that the series is deadlocked at two games apiece, Edmonton is -260 to advance. Read on for Kings vs Oilers analysis.

Los Angeles Kings Betting Analysis

Should the LA Kings go on to lose this series, they’ll rue what happened to them after jumping out to an incredible 3-0 lead after the first period of game 4. By the end of the second stanza, the game was tied at 3, but LA had a 4-3 edge until surrendering the tying goal with just over three minutes remaining in regulation.

After getting sensational starting goaltending from Joonas Korpisalo in the first three tilts (.931 save percentage), he allowed five markers on 42 shots (.881 save percentage). It was only a matter of time before the NHL’s top-scoring offense would come to life, and the Kings couldn’t weather the storm.

Los Angeles has dropped four of five against teams that have scored five or more against them the previous game. Thus far in the series, the over 6.5 goal total has hit twice, and the under has been nailed twice. It was just the third time in the last ten overall meetings between the Kings and Oilers that the over 6.5 goal total was met.

Edmonton Oilers Betting Analysis

In each of the first three duels of this series, the Oilers blew leads, with two of them costing them victories. In game 4, they reversed that trend, trailing to LA, only to roar back for victory. They’ve won 16 of their last 19, with the three defeats coming past regulation.

Leon Draisaitl has continued being otherworldly, after being second in points this season. He leads postseason scoring with five goals and nine points (two goals and one assist in game 4). Amazingly, he’s been on the ice for all 14 goals the team has potted this playoffs.

Captain Connor McDavid was held in check the first two games (one assist), but he scored twice in Game 3, and had three helpers in Game 4. The huge question mark is between the pipes. Stuart Skinner was pulled following the first frame in game 4, with Jack Campbell stopping 27 of 28 pucks to earn the victory. Campbell was a disappointment as a free-agent signing, but do the Oilers go back to Skinner, who posted a .881 save percentage in the first four games? The team is mulling over their options.

Oil Country are 8-1 in their last nine after scoring five goals or more in their previous game, and they’ve won twelve of 15 following a victory.
