  • The New York Rangers are -178 home favorites over the Seattle Kraken in an NHL game scheduled for Friday, February 10
  • This will be the first action for the Rangers since acquiring forward Vladimir Tarasenko from the St Louis Blues
  • On a five-game road trip, Seattle is off to an 0-2 start

The New York Rangers have to be hoping that coming east will go better for Vladimir Tarasenko than it has for the Seattle Kraken. New York acquired the high-scoring Tarasenko on Thursday from the St Louis Blues.

Expectations are that the six-time 30-goal scorer will be making his debut for the Broadway Blueshirts on Friday as they are playing host to the suddenly-struggling Kraken. Two games into a five-game road trip, Seattle is 0-2 and has scored one goal.

It’s the Rangers that oddsmakers are favoring heavily to continue the misery of the Kraken. New York is a -178 home favorite. The Rangers are 2-0-1 all-time in head-to-head meetings with Seattle.

Puck drop is set for 7:00pm ET on Friday, February 10 at Madison Square Garden. The NHL Network has the broadcast in the USA and Sportsnet is carrying the game in Canada.

In the NHL public betting splits, more than 60% of handle and bets are liking the Kraken at +1.5 in the puckline. However, moneyline bettors are solidly supporting the Rangers.

When it comes to the total of six goals, the handle is going for the over. The over is the play on 54% of public handle, while bets are shared 50-50.

Seattle is 2-4 on the total over the past six games, while the Kraken are 1-5 on the total in their past five meetings with Eastern Conference clubs and 1-11 on the total in the last 12 games when the opposition was from the Metropolitan Division.

Following the Tarasenko deal, the Rangers are now the +1200 fifth betting choice in the Stanley Cup odds. Seattle is given +2500 odds to win the NHL title.

Rangers A Productive Bunch

New York is adding the explosive Tarasenko to a productive offense that also includes Mika Zibanejad. He’s second among Swedish NHLers with 25 goals and has five goals in the past five games. Filip Chytil has goals in five straight games, with seven goals over that span.

The Rangers are playing five of their next six games against Western Conference opposition. This season, they are 16-5-3 against the West and 7-2-2 when facing Pacific Division clubs. The Rangers have scored four or more goals in three straight games. New York (19-0-0), Vegas and Arizona are the only NHL clubs that are unbeaten when netting at least four goals.

Kraken Showing Cracks

Seattle is 3-5-1 in the last nine games following an impressive 7-0 win streak that had briefly put the Kraken atop the Pacific Division standings. Seattle is without leading scoring Andre Burakovsky (39 points). He’s out with a lower-body injury.
