The injuries are starting to pile up for Edmonton as they visit Vegas on Saturday, November 27th, 2021 to take on the Golden Knights at 7pm ET at T-Mobile Arena.

The Oilers have been one of the NHL’s best bets this season with a 14-5 record on the moneyline, but Vegas is the home favorite in this matchup.

The Oilers have run into injury troubles on their blueline of late, while Vegas is recovering after dealing with the injury bug all season long.

Let’s take a look at the Oilers vs Golden Knights Saturday NHL odds as we break down SBD’s best pick for this one.

Oilers vs Golden Knights Odds

Game Time Team Puck Line Total Moneyline
7pm ET Edmonton Oilers +1.5 (-235) O 6 (-120) +100
November 27th, 2021 Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 (+190) U 6 (+100) -120

Odds as of November 26th at DraftKings

It may seem a bit surprising to some that the high flying Oilers find themselves as underdogs in this one, but when factoring injuries, recent play and the fact Vegas is at home, you can understand why the Golden Knights are favored. It looks as though Edmonton doesn’t mind taking their practice habits outside in the desert heat though.

Vegas has been buoyed by the return of some key forwards, with Mark Stone returning to the lineup two weeks ago and Max Pacioretty coming back in Wednesday’s victory over Nashville. They hung in there with a battered lineup in October and remain one of the top contenders in the Stanley Cup odds, while Edmonton sits just outside the top five favorites.

The Oilers haven’t had an easy go of it on this three game road trip so far, squeaking out a 5-3 victory over Arizona Wednesday night after losing 4-1 to Dallas. Duncan Keith is out with an injury, joining defensemen Darnell Nurse and Slater Koekkoek and leaving the blueline core quite depleted.

Veteran Kris Russell, who has been a healthy scratch at times in recent seasons, actually led the Oil defensemen in ice time, playing 22:56 against the Coyotes and blocking three shots, prompting this response from his teammate, Zack Kassian!

Needless to say, Russell is stepping up when his team needs him the most as he sits on the cusp of a rather underrated record. Of course he’s got two teammates who have been shining in the spotlight with their scoring exploits this year.

Leon Biggest Contender to McDavid for Hart Trophy

If Connor McDavid is looking over his shoulder to check who is chasing him in the early MVP race, he needs to look no further than his own teammate. Leon Draisaitl has rocketed up the Hart Trophy odds since the beginning of the season and is the second betting favorite for the Hart. His 20 goals in 19 games puts him in some extremely elite company.

Recent Players with 20 Goals Through Team’s First 19 Games

Player Year Goals
Leon Draisaitl (EDM) 2021-22 20
Simon Gagne (PHI) 2005-06 20
Mario Lemieux (PIT) 1992-93 22
Pavel Bure (VAN) 1992-93 20

Obviously, the Golden Knights will have to find a way to contain the Oilers’ dynamic duo if they want to have any chance to win this one. Vegas has held their opponents to two or fewer goals in three of their last four games.

Oilers vs Golden Knights Pick

The Oilers have been hard to bet against in the first quarter of the season, but I think they’ll be in tough against a well-organized Vegas team.

When you factor in the inexperience on their defense due to injuries, it feels like Vegas is the better pick in this game. The Golden Knights on the moneyline is listed at -120 in the Saturday NHL odds at DraftKings.

Pick: Vegas Golden Knights ML (-120)
