Levante vs Villarreal Prediction

Levante host Villarreal on Wednesday with a berth in the final four on the line. The hosts advanced to the quarterfinals after burying Valladolid 4-2 last week on the road. Enis Bardhi fired home to equalize early in the first period while Mickael Malsa found the back of the net just before the halftime whistle. Coke and captain Jose Luis Morales both netted in the second half to secure Levante’s spot in the last eight.

Previously, Paco Lopez’s squad just slipped past Segunda Division side Fuenlabrada in penalties to progress. This is the first time they’ve found themselves in the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey since 2013/14.

Levante is also unbeaten throughout their last seven competitive matches, including a massive result on Saturday, beating Real Madrid 2-1 after Eder Militao was sent off in the 9th minute for Los Blancos. Their last defeat though, funny enough, came at the hands of Villarreal.

Unai Emery’s side also enters this Copa del Rey clash in good spirits, having won five of their last eight fixtures while going unbeaten during that span. A 1-0 victory over Girona last week made sure the Yellow Submarine booked their ticket to the final eight.

Thanks to their consistent play, Villarreal sits in a very respectable spot in the La Liga table. Emery’s men secured a point in a 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad on Saturday, putting them in fifth place. They’re also just four points off Sevilla who currently sit in the fourth and final Champions League position.

Both of these sides will have lots of confidence heading into the match thanks to their top form. This is also the first real test for Levante and Villarreal in the competition after playing mostly Segunda outfits.

Villarreal came out victorious in their last meeting and I think their quality will shine through once again. Emery has done a phenomenal job with this side and even with leading goal-scorer Gerard Moreno still out, I expect the visitors to pull through and advance to the semifinals.

Pick: Villarreal +118

Real Betis vs Athletic Club Prediction

A Real Betis team who haven’t lost since last year welcome an inconsistent Athletic Bilbao squad to Seville on Thursday. Betis are on an impressive unbeaten streak currently, dating back to December 29th. During this span, they’ve dropped just four points in a total of eight matches.

Their round of 16 clash with Real Sociedad was by no means easy, but Manuel Pellegrini’s side sure put forward a convincing performance, beating them 3-1. Striker Borja Iglesias scored a brace to push Betis to the quarterfinals while also bagging his team’s lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Osasuna in league play on Monday.

Los Verdiblancos are firing on all cylinders right now, just two points off Sociedad for a spot in Europe. But, their focus will strictly be on finding a victory against Bilbao this Thursday as they eye the last four of the Copa del Rey.

It’s been a mixed bag of results for Athletic Club this term, but their history of success in this competition will have them feeling optimistic. Bilbao has won it all 23 times, the second-most in Spain behind only Barca.

Athletic secured a 2-1 win over CD Alyocano, the same third-tier outfit who upset Madrid in the round of 32. Previous to that, the Lions took down Ibiza by the same scoreline. Nestled in between those Copa del Rey fixtures was a very promising 5-1 win over Getafe as well. Currently, in 11th place in La Liga, their season is slipping away at this point. But, success in the Copa del Rey is still very much possible.

Bilbao buried Betis 4-0 back in November, but the hosts are a much different side right now. However, I do like the thought of going with Athletic here. The stakes are too high for them knowing they’ve been one of the giants of this competition. It will be a close one though.

Pick: Athletic Club 2-1 +950
