  • French side are bottom after two defeats
  • Spaniards won at Chelsea but then slumped against Ajax
  • No win for LOSC in last nine UCL home matches

Valencia can get their campaign back on course in Champions League Group H when they visit struggling Lille on Wednesday.

The Spanish club scored a surprise 1-0 victory over Chelsea in their opening game but then slumped 3-0 at home against group leaders Ajax.

Bottom team Lille have lost both games so far and will have little chance of progress to the knockout phase if they are beaten again this time on October 23, at Stade Pierre Mauroy, Lille at 3.00 pm EST.

Oddsmakers rate Valencia as slight favorites to win at +157, with Lille at +183. The draw is +205. The best choice here is a victory for the Spaniards.

Their last home win at that stage of the competition was in 2006/07 in a 3-1 defeat of AEK Athens.

Valencia were beaten Champions League finalists in 2000 and 2001.

The uplifting win at Chelsea was the Spanish side’s first away from home in the UCL in six matches. And in those six games, they have scored just twice.
