Pride will be on the line in a clash between Martinique and Haiti on Sunday in Frisco, Texas. They both find themselves at the bottom of Group B with no points after losing both of their fixtures thus far to the USA and Canada.
Martinique was hammered by the Americans on Thursday night in a 6-1 defeat and have now conceded 10 goals in just two appearances. The Haitians meanwhile showed relatively well against the Canadians but were on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline.
These two nations haven’t met since 2007, with Haiti running out as 1-0 winners in the Caribbean Cup.

Martinique Looking to Finish on a High Note
Mario Bocaly’s men have looked frankly overmatched in this tournament and it’s not hard to understand why. Prior to the Gold Cup, they haven’t played a competitive match since 2019. However, this is the non-FIFA nation’s third straight tournament, which is certainly impressive.
Martinique went winless in the 2017 and 2019 editions though and is in serious trouble of doing so again. The United States ran riot on Bocaly’s side, firing six goals past them in a very disappointing defeat. Canada also had their way with the Martinique backline just days prior.
The biggest takeaway for this squad right now is their extremely shaky defense. While both opponents thus far in the Gold Cup are clearly superior, they didn’t show any solidity at the back.

This final game presents an opportunity for Martinique to finish on a positive note. While the Haitians aren’t an easy opponent by any means, Les Matinino will be looking to collect three points and give themselves something to build on moving forward.
Hopefully, these first two losses will motivate Martinique enough to put together a much better performance in Sunday’s clash. Bocaly will be looking to Emmanuel Riviere to provide a moment of brilliance in the final third after scoring both of the side’s goals in the tournament thus far.
Haiti Have Showed Well
The results on paper don’t reflect it, but the Haitians have actually put up a respectable fight in the Gold Cup. Their 1-0 defeat to the US in the opener could’ve very well been a draw as they had numerous clear-cut opportunities to find the back of the net.
However, the storyline for Haiti has been getting off to a slow start. Jean-Jacques Pierre’s side conceded within the first 15 minutes against the States and Canada then were unable to recover. While they did lose by three goals to the Canucks, Haiti had some impressive counter-attacks and periods of possession that certainly caused some problems for their opposition. But, the end product lacked.
If Haiti did taste defeat on Sunday against Martinique, it would be the first time in seven Gold Cups where the squad didn’t collect at least a point. Just like their Caribbean counterparts, Pierre’s men will be hungry for a positive result to finish off the tournament.
A key to victory will be coming out of the gates firing and keeping their foot on the gas pedal. Martinique can be extremely vulnerable and getting off to a quick start will set the tone early on. Carnejy Antoine will be relied upon to create some chances up top, with their lone goal so far coming from defender Stephane Lambese.

Martinique vs Haiti Prediction
Both teams are simply looking to head back home with their heads held high. To be honest, though, Haiti has looked like a much better side in this competition. They’ve controlled the game at times and had legitimate chances to score goals.
I do expect them to continue this trend on Sunday and with Martinique’s defensive issues, the Haitians will capitalize this time around and secure three points. Take the visitors on the Moneyline.
