Krajinovic Upsets Tsitsipas

Krajinovic upset top seed Tsitsipas in a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 win on Friday to reach the semifinals of the tournament. With this win, he also became the third time he’s defeated a Top 10 player in his career.0

After losing the first set, things didn’t look good for the sixth seed. Krajinovic lost the first five games of the match. On route to victory, he managed to land 73 percent of his first serves, and converted 79 percent of them to points. After losing the first five games, Krajinovic was able to capture the next nine of 11, which allowed him to record the win.

He’ll now look forward to facing Đere, who he currently holds a 2-0 head-to-head tour record against.

Đere defeats Basilashvili

The 26-year old is coming off a strong straightset win over Basilashvili, defeating the Georgian 6-2, 6-2.

Đere recorded four aces, and one double fault, to his opponent’s one ace and seven double faults. He was quite able to find his serve, as he only managed a 55 first serve percentage. But of those landed first serves, he was able to convert 83 percent of them into a point.

The Serbian has yet to drop a set in the tournament so far, and he will look to continue his success against Krajinovic, who he knows fairly well, but hasn’t been able to find much success against.

Head-to-Head

As mentioned, these two players have played each other a total of two times on tour. But there are an additional four matches that were played at either qualifying, challenger or future matches back in 2017. They split that head-to-head at 2-2, with three of them being played on outdoor clay courts.

Best Bet

Krajinovic will be riding a huge high after his quarterfinal win. If he is able to take his confidence and momentum into this match, while keeping calm and collected, he should be able to win.

He’s the favorite heading in, despite Đere having not dropped a set just yet. Đere just hasn’t been truly tested, and has had a fairly straightforward route to this point in the tournament so far. Krajinovic will definitely be his toughest opponent here to date.

I’m going to give Krajinovic the edge here against Đere. He leads their head-to-head, which includes a win on outdoor clay, and is coming off a big career win against Tsitsipas.

Best Bet: Krajinovic 2-0 (+175)
