UConn Betting Trends

Sophomore guard Jordan Hawkins scored a career-high 31 points, but it couldn’t keep UConn from losing to St. John’s.

UConn committed 21 turnovers that St. John’s turned into 22 points. The Huskies were also outscored 44-28 in the paint while allowing the Red Storm to shoot 51.7% (30 of 58) from the field.

Hawkins scored 20 of his points in the first half and the score was tied 38-38 at intermission. However, St. John’s pulled away in the second half as Hawkins finished with seven turnovers.

Freshman forward Alex Karaban had 16 points and five rebounds for the Huskies. Junior forward Adama Sanogo recorded his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Sanogo was ejected in the final minute for saying something to one of the officials. UConn was whistled for 30 fouls in a contentious game.

Sanogo, who has +2200 Wooden Award odds, is averaging 17.3 points and 6.8 rebounds a game. He is second in the Big East in scoring and third in field goal percentage (60.1).

Hawkins has a 15.4 scoring average for UConn, which is 34th in team scoring with 79.4 points a game. The Huskies are fifth in three-point defense (27.2%), 46th in field goal defense (40.3%) and 47th in scoring defense (63.7).

Seton Hall Betting Trends

Senior forward KC Ndefo helped Seton Hill continue its winning streak in the victory over DePaul by posting his first double-double of the season.

Ndefo had 16 points and 12 rebounds. In his first season after following coach Shaheen Holloway from Saint Peter’s, Ndefo is third in the conference in blocked shots with an average of 2.0 a game.

Senior guard Al-Amir Dawes, a transfer from Clemson, has a team-high 11.9 scoring average. Seven different players have led the Pirates in scoring this season.

Senior forward Tyrese Samuel is scoring 10.9 and pulling down 6.2 rebounds a game.

Junior guard Kadary Redmond is having a fine all-round season with averages of 9.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.8 steals. He ranks fifth in steals in the Big East.

Dawes finished with 15 points and three steals on Saturday. Samuel added 12 points and junior guard Femi Odukale contributed 12 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Seton Hall outrebounded DePaul 37-27.

The Pirates are 17th in Division I in three-point shooting allowed (28.4%), 38th in field goal defense (39.9%) and 48th in scoring defense (63.8). However, their 31.4 three-point percentage is 305th.

UConn vs Seton Hall Prediction

UConn won two of three meetings with Seton Hall last season, including posting a 62-52 victory in the Big East Tournament.

However, the Huskies are struggling mightily and are a fade candidate against a Seton Hall team that seems to be gelling under Holloway.

Pick: Seton Hall +155 ML

Season record: 20-15 (+3.5 units) ATS, 0-6 (-6.0 units) ML
