  • The Tennessee Titans are 3.5-point home favorites over the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Divisional Round playoff game scheduled for Saturday, January 15
  • Cincinnati has won three of the last four meetings with Tennessee
  • The Titans haven’t won a home playoff game since 2002

Something must give as the Tennessee Titans play host to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Divisional Round playoffs on Saturday.

It’s been over 19 years since the Titans won a home playoff game. They beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 34-31 in the Divisonal Round on Jan. 4, 2003.

Then again, at least the Titans know what it feels like to win a home game in the postseason. The Bengals have never earned a victory in a road playoff contest. Cincinnati is 0-7 straight up when playing away from home in the NFL postseason.

No wonder then that oddsmakers are leaning towards the Titans in the betting line for this game. Tennessee stands as a 3.5-point home favorite. The Titans are just 3-3 against the spread as a home favorite this season.

Bengals vs Titans Line Movement

The underdog Bengals are getting plenty of public love in the NFL betting trends. Bettors seem split on which team to go with in both point spread betting, while moneyline wagering is tilting solidly toward Cinci.

As far as spread wagering is going, when it comes to handle, the public is solidly behind the favored Titans at -3.5 points. There’s 58% of the handle on Tennessee. However, 54% of bets are backing the Bengals and taking the 3.5 points.

No split decision is taking hold in regards to moneyline wagering, though. Cincinnati is drawing 52% of handle and 59% of bets.

The total is where the public is exhibiting its most decisive movement. The over on the 47-point total is drawing 71% of the handle and 67% of bets.

King Henry Returning to This Throne?

During the NFL regular season, Titans running back Derrick Henry was ninth in the NFL in rushing with 973 yards. He’s also finished sixth in the league with 10 touchdowns.

Those are impressive numbers considering that a foot injury has kept Henry on the shelf since Week 9.

All that is expected to change this weekend. Expectations are that Henry will be activated off IR in time for Saturday’s game.

He’s been practicing all week. Henry is engaging in contact during drills and looks ready to go. Even if he’s not 100%, the power he brings to the run game (728 yards gained after contact this season) make Henry an additional headache for the Bengals to deal with on the defensive side of the gameplan.

Bengals vs Titans Injury Report

Henry’s return won’t be the only good news on the injury front for the Titans. Wide receivers Julio Jones (hamstring) and AJ Brown (calf) are both healthy and good to go. Tennessee hasn’t played with all three of its biggest offensive weapons on the field at the same time since Week 7.

They played just four games and 120 snaps together all season. When this trio is together on the field, Tennessee averages seven yards per play, 344 yards per game and 33 points per game. Without them, those digits drop to 331.6 ypg and 24 ppg.

Nose tackle Teair Tart (ankle) is the only Tennessee starter on the injury report. He’s listed as questionable.

The Bengals are reporting no injuries to starters.

Bengals vs Titans Betting Trends

The only previous playoff meeting between the two franchises was when the Bengals whipped the Titans in their previous life as the Houston Oilers 41-14 in a 1991 AFC Wild Card game.

Cincinnati is 5-0 ATS over the past five games and 4-0 ATS in the last four against Tennessee. The Titans are 7-1 SU in their last eight home games.

Bengals vs Titans Prediction

It’s been a great year for the Bengals and bodes well for a dynamic future unfolding. However, with the return of Henry, the Titans will be a force too powerful to overcome and is out bet for this Divisional Round pick.

Pick: Tennessee Titans -3.5 (-106)
