Browns Super Bowl 54 Odds Fade to +3300 After Bad Loss to 49ers
- The Cleveland Browns lost 31-3 at San Francisco on Monday Night Football
- Baker Mayfield set a new career-low for completion percentage (36.3%) and passing yards (100) in a game
- The Browns Super Bowl odds have dropped from +2500 to +3300
The Cleveland Browns were blown out on Monday Night Football in the franchise’s worst road loss in prime time. The Browns appeared to have a number of flaws, including quarterback Baker Mayfield having the worst game of his career. Are the Browns still worth a look in the Super Bowl odds or is this team a write-off to even make the playoffs?

Browns Get Blown Out By 49ers
The Browns got dusted by the San Francisco 49ers 31-3 on Monday Night Football. The 49ers actually missed two field goals and did little with the four turnovers that the Browns gave them, so this scoreline could have been much worse.
The Browns run defense surprisingly collapsed as they had allowed 356 rushing yards in total over their previous three games. They gave up 275 on Monday as they were embarrassed over and over again. Matt Breida started the game with an 83-yard touchdown run on the first play while he and Tevin Coleman combined for 211 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
The bigger concern has to be the offense. Sure, the 49ers have a good defense but Baker Mayfield was a complete mess. Even with two of the best receivers in the game and a Top 10 running back, all they could muster was three points.

Mayfield failed to throw a touchdown for the first time in 18 starts and he finished the day eight-of-22 with 100 yards passing, 42 sack yards and two interceptions. He’s now 1-7 against teams with a winning record. He’s a very talented quarterback but this was the type of performance that has a lot of people wondering if he’s a franchise quarterback.
Browns Schedule Ramps Up
The Browns are just 2-3 on the season and they’re in a bad division, but things are not looking up for them right now. They’re dealing with injuries, are not playing well in multiple areas and now have a challenging upcoming four games that will likely determine the outcome of their season.

Next week, the Browns will host the 3-1 Seattle Seahawks, who will have had 10 days to prepare. After that, they will have a bye week and then visit the New England Patriots, which will be followed by a visit to Denver and a home game with the Buffalo Bills.
These four games will determine the team’s trajectory. If they can go 3-1 or 2-2, they’ll be either 5-4 or 4-5 after nine games. They should be able to win five or six of their final seven games as that part of the schedule is easy. That means they can still finish with eight to ten wins.

However, if they end up 1-3 after those four games, they’re not going to get to the playoffs.
What’s the Best Bet?
I’m not interested in betting the Browns Super Bowl odds. I actually do think they’ll get it together by the end of the season and possibly get into the playoffs with some momentum. That’s if everything goes right. In my view, there’s a lot more that can go wrong as Mayfield doesn’t look good right now.
There’s also the issue of Freddie Kitchens, who doesn’t look like an NFL head coach. Odell Beckham Jr. hasn’t made much of an impact on this team and now the defense is apparently a problem.
Even if the Browns get into the playoffs, they’ll be going on the road a lot and they’re not built for it. I’ll pass on their Super Bowl futures right now. If you really like them, wait until after the next four games as they’ll drop even further and bet them then.
