Lewandowski Poised to Make History
Robert Lewandowski showed no signs of slowing down during a spectacular season in 2020/2021. The reigning European Golden Shoe winner played a critical role in Bayern Munich’s march to the Bundesliga title for a ninth straight year, scoring over 41% of the club’s total markers on the season. That stat becomes even more impressive considering Lewandowski appeared in just 29 of the club’s 34 league matches.

With Bayern returning to action with their championship core largely intact and sporting short -550 odds to claim a 10th straight Bundesliga title, it is tough to see Lewandowski giving up his goalscoring title. Unlike late last season, Lewandowski appears set to hit the pitch in good health, and after averaging over 32 goals per season over the past six years, it is likely to take an unforeseen circumstance to keep him from once again leading all strikers in German league play.
Haaland the Heir Apparent?
However, if Lewandowski is to receive a serious challenge this coming season, it is likely to come from Erling Haaland. The 21-year-old is coming off a breakthrough in his second season with Borussia Dortmund, potting 27 goals in 28 match appearances to finish third in the Bundesliga goalscoring race.

The 2020/2021 Bundesliga Player of the Season stormed out of the gate last season with 10 goals over his first seven outings and scored multiple goals on 11 occasions. That includes multi-goal performances on three occasions during Dortmund’s season-ending six-match win streak.

Move to Leipzig Good News for Silva
Last season also represented a breakthrough for Andre Silva, who set a new single-season club record at Frankfurt by scoring 28 times. Silva’s move to RB Leipzig during the offseason provides a big lift to the Red Bulls.
First up, André Silva.
Statistically the second best striker in the Bundesliga last season, Silva swapped Frankfurt for Leipzig. If he's firing, his goals could see them push Bayern Munich all of the way. pic.twitter.com/91fSpFLf7v

Leipzig finished second to Bayern on the Bundesliga table, joining teen phenom Brian Brobbey, who is set to make his Bundesliga debut amid high expectations.
Pretenders Round Out the Odds
Further down the Bundesliga top goalscorer odds, veteran Thomas Muller joins Donyell Malen at +1600, just ahead of Patrik Schick at +2000. Wout Weghorst follows at +2200, while Andrej Kamaric is pegged at +2500.
But realistically, this is Lewandowski’s race to lose, with the youngsters Haaland and Silva the best bets to challenge, and the most high-value bets on the board. With Lewandowski sporting short odds, and Silva likely to face an adjustment in his Leipzig debut, Haaland represents the best choice for sports bettors looking for value alternatives. The Dortmund star is looking increasingly likely to eventually claim a Bundesliga goal-scoring crown. All that is left to determine is when it will happen.
The Pick: Erling Haaland (+225)
