Real Madrid and Barcelona will clash in a winner takes all battle to decide who takes home the 2013-2014 Copa del Rey title, when they meet this Wednesday April 16 at Mestalla stadium at 16:30 PM ET.

The two biggest clubs in Spain clashing for a title; it doesn’t get much better than this. The Copa Del Rey Odds have both Barcelona and Real Madrid listed +150 to win the game, and the draw is listed +260, but to cash in on that, the game must go to penalty kicks over 120 minutes played.

Madrid’s last loss was on October 26th, 2013 when they lost to Barcelona in the Spanish La Liga; it has been over four months since that defeat and 17 games have gone by, recording 14 wins and three ties in all competitions.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team is comfortable with their latest form and especially with their offensive game as Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema have been unstoppable up front.

“We are in a good position in the League and the other competitions. The atmosphere is good, and we have to continue like that”, Ancelotti said.

“It’s important not to think about too many things. We have to focus on one match at a time. What matters is winning and not how we win”, the Italian coach added.

Barcelona, on the other hand, hasn’t had the same luck.  They have dropped two of the last three games in the last days of February and the beginning of March, and most people are worried about the team all around form.

“It depends what happens. If Real Madrid wins, we will be four points behind, and it wouldn’t be in our hands. Today we leave with a sour taste in our mouths”, the general manager Andoni Zubizarreta said.

“It’s a very long competition, and it’s not lost in one day or after one game. We will learn from this defeat and will fight to win the coming games”, he concluded.

The other problem for Barcelona is that Lionel Messi doesn’t look comfortable this season; he leads all players with five goals in the Copa Del Rey, but a few injuries over the past months have diminished his confident.

Messi is not at the top of the world as he used to be, and instead he urges to find his best form considering Argentine will need him at 100% for the Brazil 2014 World Cup.

In the last three games between these two teams, Real Madrid has won two, although the last one ended with a 2-1 win by Barcelona at the Nou Camp.

Over the last six ‘clasicos’, Barcelona has only won one of them, recording three losses and two draws.

These two teams met at Mestalla stadium for the 2010-2011 Copa del Rey with a Real Madrid victory 1-0 in overtime, with a score by Cristiano Ronaldo.
