The Syracuse Orange needs to recover their best form when they take on the MAC Champions, Western Michigan Broncos, this Thursday at 2:45 PM ET, at the First Niagara Center, in New York, for the 2014 March Madness 2nd round in the South Region.

After starting the regular season 25-0, Syracuse has lost five of their last seven outings, including a defeat against NC State in the ACC tournament quarterfinals.

“I’m not concerned about our team,” Orange coach Jim Boeheim said. “I think we’ve played well all year. I think we’ve struggled shooting, and I think that’s pretty well-documented. But in spite of that, we won 27 games, so I’m pretty pleased with what these guys have done, and I believe we’ll be a very good tournament team.”

Western Michigan has won 12 of their last 13; their only loss came against Toledo in the regular season; however, they were able to have their revenge by beating them 98-77 in the MAC tournament final.

“Finally,” senior guard David Brown said after the win. “I’ve been here for five long, frustrating years, and it’s finally here, and I can’t believe that with this group of guys we were able to overcome so many negative things.”

Syracuse is a 13 point favorite entering this matchup.  The Orange are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games, but 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as a favorite of 13.0 or greater. The Broncos are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 neutral site games as a favorite.
