On Tuesday, we talked about KIA’s push for the final playoff spot. What we overlooked, is they’re not the only team with a shot of catching fifth place LG.
The Lotte Giants enter play on Wednesday just three games outside the playoff picture, and we’ll be looking to inch closer when they take on KT Wiz at 5:30 am EST.

Odds as of Oct. 6th at FanDuel.
Lotte opened up as a sizeable favorite in large part due to the pitching matchup. The Giants will send ace Dan Straily to the mound, who’s been virtually unhittable over the last few weeks.
Straily’s Stuff Has Been Electric
The 31-year-old has allowed one earned run or less in three straight starts, and is fresh off a masterful 7 inning performance versus KIA. He held the Tigers to just five hits in that outing, while striking out six.
Awesome stuff from Dan Straily today with 16 whiffs + 16 called strikes against Hanwha, including this slider whiff versus Noh Si-hwan w/ an approximate @CodifyBaseball-esque map (of my creation) overlayed #KBO #KBOLeague pic.twitter.com/mFqvKdnlig

As good as he was on that day, he was even better in his previous start. He held Wednesday’s opponent KT Wiz scoreless, and surrendered just one hit over 7 innings. He struck out eight Suwon batters along the way, but that wasn’t his only superb performance against KT Wiz this season.
Straily vs KT Wiz in 2020
Date | IP | ER | H | K |
---|---|---|---|---|
Sept. 22 | 7.0 | 0 | 1 | 6 |
June 6 | 7.0 | 0 | 5 | 6 |
May 5 | 5.2 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
He blanked them back on June 6th over 7 innings, and limited the league’s number two ranked team to two runs on Opening Day.
KT Wiz will counter with reliever Dae Eun Lee who’s yet to pitch more than 2 innings in a game all season. With another short outing likely on deck, Lotte should feast on the Suwon’s sixth ranked bullpen.
Pick: Lotte Giants -1.5 (-148), Under 9.5 (+100)
Picking on Pinto Still Profitable
We’ve been targeting SK’s Ricardo Pinto all season long, and for the most part it’s been a profitable strategy. He cost us a few wagers over the past month, however things returned to normal in his last outing. Pinto was shelled by NC for 7 runs, including three homers, over 5.2 innings in a lopsided defeat.
Now the red-hot defending champs are in town, and they have a strong track record against Pinto.
Doosan has roughed up the SK starter in both of their meetings, tagging him for nine runs and 15 hits over 9 innings. They’ve racked up 37 runs during a four-game winning streak, crossing the plate at least seven times in each outing, and winning all four contests by at least five runs.

The Bears will counter with Won Jun Jang, who’ll make just his second start of the season. Jang is not someone to fear, however neither is the Wyverns offense. SK ranks second last in runs per game and has produced three runs or fewer in 11 of its past 17 contests.
Pick: Doosan Bears moneyline (-186)
