Joey Beltran’s Betting Analysis at BKFC Fight Night New York

Joey Beltran has notched a pair of successful title defenses so far against Marcel Stamps and Sam Shewmaker, respectively.

He looks to garner title defense number three against the only man to have ever beaten him in bare-knuckle boxing competition.

I spoke with the reigning BKFC and Police Gazette champion prior to this bout. Beltran was as intense and focused as I’ve ever heard him and we’ve conversed ahead of many of his BKFC bouts.

There’s a reason why the odds on Beltran in this Adams sequel look different for the champ than previous title bouts of his (-200 versus Stamps and -320 versus Shewmaker).

This is by far the most credible threat to Beltran’s throne among the challengers he has clashed with so far.

Arnold Adams Making BKFC History

Adams cemented himself as the inaugural BKFC heavyweight champion and is looking to make history once more by becoming the division’s first two-time titleholder.

Arnold Adams’ last outing saw him put the first blemish on the bare-knuckle boxing record of the reputable BKB heavyweight champion/ BKFC debutant Mick Terrill.

Adams has an eighty percent finishing rate as a BKFC fighter and has one of the pound-for-pound highest fight IQs of any pugilist on that circuit.

Beltran’s strengths come from his gas tank and his volume-heavy, seemingly unwavering forward pressure.

Ultimately, I think Beltran will defend his hardware and even up the series with Adams this weekend.

I think he’ll be tested and have to dig down deep at certain stretches. But few have the magnitude of determination and grit that Beltran has.

The bulldozer pressure and championship heart will guide Joey Beltran to a win, likely via decision.

Pick: Joey Beltran (-115)

Zach Calmus vs Nolan Smith

Zach Calmus has an 0-1 BKFC record so far but context is key in this situation.

That lone bout was one of the most electric Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship bouts of all time. A spirited effort against notable heavyweight contender Bobo O’Bannon,

Nolan Smith makes his BKFC debut here and has a few amateur boxing bouts to this credit.

There really is not much tape on Smith to speak of. So he brings a lot of question marks with him to this upcoming fight.

For this co-headliner, I favor the individual with a moderate edge in BKFC experience. I see Calmus improving to a .500 record when he knuckles up and toes the line in New York.

Pick: Zach Calmus (-180)

Other Picks for BKFC Fight Night New York:

  1. Dustin Pague vs Jake Young: Dustin Pague has a 1-0 gloved boxing record and is a bare-knuckle debutant here as he faces 0-1 BKFC fighter Jake Young. I see Young taking advantage of that early feeling-out process that most debuting BKFC fighters face to secure his first bare-knuckle boxing win. Pick: Jake Young (+160)
  2. Travis Thompson vs Jack Grady: While Thompson has a bit of a mixed BKFC record (3-4), Grady has gone winless across eleven gloved boxing bouts as he makes his bare-knuckle boxing debut here. I see Thompson maintaining his hundred percent finishing rate in BKFC competition this Saturday. Pick: Travis Thompson (-220)
  3. Matt Phillips vs Derek Greene: Phillips has a 3-0 kickboxing record underneath him as he prepares to compete for the first time in bare-knuckle boxing. I favour Phillips over an 0-1 gloved boxer and fellow BKFC debutant in Greene. Pick: Matt Phillips (-210)
