The notion of make-it-or-break-it games so early in the season seems kind of silly, still here we are discussing whether Jim Harbaugh can turn around the ship after last week’s division loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The 49ers (1-2) find themselves at the bottom of the NFC West looking up.

Harbaugh said, “We’ve been in this position before where there is an ebb and a flow to the season. We’re in it now. That’s the great challenge for our football team and I have great confidence that we’ll attack it.”

Odds are Frank Gore will once again be called upon to carry the team. This was not the case the last two weeks – both losses – in which the team got away from its run game.

As for the Philadelphia Eagles (3-0), the team is also looking to get LeSean McCoy back in action. Last weekend against Washington he had 19 carries for a paltry 22 yards. Luckily, Eagles quarterback Nick Foles has taken over the leadership role.

Foles said, “We stick together and there’s a great camaraderie. In the locker room during games like that, we lean on each other instead of blaming each other.”

Considering the 49ers appear to be stumbling a bit while the Eagles are scoring 33.7 points a game (good for second in the league), the smart play here is Philadelphia’s money line.
