  • The #2 seeded Florida Gators are -160 favorites over the TCU Horned Frogs in their College World Series game on Wednesday, June 21
  • Florida is playing in the CWS for the eighth time in 16 years but for the first time since 2018

The Florida Gators (52-15) haven’t lost a game since the early days of June. Meanwhile, the TCU Horned Frogs (44-23) lost a game earlier this week.

Should the second-seeded Gators extend their winning streak to eight games, they’ll be one shy of their season high and two wins shy of a College World Series title. And it would mean the Horned Frogs will be on their way home.

Oddsmakers are seeing that outcome as likely as these two teams clash. Florida is set as the -160 favorite.

TCU vs Florida Odds

Team Run Line Total Moneyline
TCU Horned Frogs +1.5 (-135) O 11.5 (-120) +130
Florida Gators -1.5 (+105) U 11.5 (-110) -160

First pitch on Tuesday, June 20 at Charles Schwab Field is set for 2:00pm ET. ESPN is carrying all the CWS action. If Florida wins this game, the Gators will advance to the College World Series final. A TCU victory would mean the same two schools would face each other again on Thursday, June 22, with the winner advancing to the final.

The Gators are currently the +185 second betting choice to win the CWS. TCU is the third pick at +1100.

TCU vs Florida Pitching Matchup

Left-hander Jac Caglianone will be handed the ball for the Gators. The third starter in the Florida rotation, he’s started 16 games this season and is 7-3 with a 3.73 ERA. Caglianone has held opposition hitters to a .184 batting average. He’s struck out 81 batters in 69 innings of work. Caglianone is 3-1 over his past four starts.

With the season on the line, expect that TCU will counter with freshman right-hander Kole Klecker, the staff ace. He’s 10-4 with a 3.73 ERA. Klecker has struck out 70 over 91.2 innings on the bump. TCU is 6-1 SU over his past seven starts.

Horned Frogs Avenge Earlier Loss

TCU avenged an earlier 6-5 setback to the Golden Eagles by hammering Oral Roberts 6-1 on Tuesday. In the win over the Golden Eagles, first baseman Cole Fontenelle went 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI. He had a homer and three RBI in the previous game against Oral Roberts. Fontenelle also drove in two runs in TCU’s 4-3 win over Virginia.

You have to go back to April 29-30 to find the Horned Frogs losing successive games. TCU is 4-1 SU against SEC opponents this season.

Gators Near Season-High Win Streak

In two games at Omaha, Florida has earned a pair of one-run decisions. The Gators beat Virginia 6-5 and followed up with a 5-4 verdict over Oral Roberts. They are 4-1 SU in one-run games since the start of the SEC Tournament.

Ty Evans, Josh Rivera and Luke Heyman homered for Florida in the win over Oral Roberts. The Gators have now slugged 135 home runs, shattering the school single-season mark of 132 set in 1998. Florida and LSU are tied for second in the NCAA in home runs. Caglianone, who also plays first base, leads the nation with 31 homers.

TCU vs Florida College World Series Pick

At the 2017 CWS, Florida and TCU also met in the semifinals. The unbeaten Gators lost the first meeting but rebounded to win the second game and go on to win the CWS final. That remains the school’s only national title. Florida is 2-1 SU all-time against TCU in the CWS.

Since facing elimination in the NCAA Regionals, Florida is 7-0 SU. During that run, the Gators have outscored opponents 41-16 and out-homered the opposition 14-2.

TCU is 30-10 SU when scoring six or more runs in a game. The Horned Frogs are 12-1 SU over the past 13 games. They’ve lost just twice in their last 19 games.

TCU vs Florida Pick: Florida Gators ML (-160)
