  • The 3M Open from TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, MN tees off Thursday, July 22nd
  • Dustin Johnson is the +750 favorite over Louis Oosthuizen and Tony Finau
  • We’ve narrowed down the golfers with the best chance of emerging victorious and provided the best value bets below

One week after Collin Morikawa’s spellbinding triumph at the Open Championship, the PGA Tour heads to Minnesota for the 3M Open. This is the third iteration of this event, which has previously been won by Matthew Wolff in 2019 and Michael Thompson last year. Going low is imperative for success at this track, as the two winning scores have been 19 and 21 under par, respectively.

Only four of the top-20 golfers in the world are competing, led by tournament favorite Dustin Johnson. The other three are Louis Oosthuizen, who suffered yet another bitter defeat at a major championship at Royal St. Georges, Tony Finau and Patrick Reed.

For players who are on the playoff bubble, there aren’t many more chances to get inside the top-125, with this being the third last chance for golfers trying to secure their future on the biggest stage.

Matthew Wolff Loves This Course

Matthew Wolff is back to the site of his breakthrough victory on the PGA Tour in 2019, as he won in thrilling fashion with a 72nd hole eagle to defeat Bryson DeChambeau and Collin Morikawa. That triumph, along with a solid T-12 last year, shows Wolff is extremely comfortable at this course and could be where he earns his second victory.

In those eight rounds he’s played at TPC Twin Cities, he’s ranked highly in several strokes gained categories.

Total Tee-To-Green Approach Ball Striking Short Game Putting

Wolff took ten weeks off to clear his head, something he’s been very open and honest about, and in his return tournament, was in the mix in the final round to win the US Open at Torrey Pines. He settled for a respectable T-15.

There aren’t many more courses that Wolff has looked this comfortable on in the early stages of his career. With +3500 odds, you’re getting him at very good value compared to the top golfers on the board.

2021 3M Open Best Value Picks

  1. Hank Lebioda (+6000): Lefty Hank Lebioda has been playing very consistent golf, making his last seven cuts, posting five top-20’s in that span. His last three tournaments have been especially strong, as he’s finished T-4, T-5 and T-8. Second in putting and third in total strokes gained for those three events.
  2. Luke List (+6500): Luke List is still in search of that elusive first PGA Tour title, but he looks poised to perhaps break through. In his last two starts, List has been T-4 (John Deere) and T-5 (Barbasol). He was first in SG: Tee-to-green and ball striking and third in total strokes gained.
  3. Brandon Hagy (+13000): Classic boom or bust pick. Two starts ago, he was just two shots from being in a playoff at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Then in his most recent outing at the John Deere Classic, he held the lead early in the final round before falling backwards into a tie for 18th. At these super long odds, worth a flier, and also top 5/10/20 wagers will be intriguing based on his recent play.
