For the second straight year, the play on the course at the RBC Canadian Open is being overshadowed by the news off it. Last year, it was due to the fallout of LIV Golf poaching a handful of the PGA Tour’s top stars. This week, it’s thanks to the new partnership between the two Tours.

Golf politics aside, there’s still a tournament to be played and bets to be made this week. Our focus will be in the head-to-head matchups and to make/miss the cut markets, with value coming from the ladder in the form of Maverick McNealy.

McNealy a Miss Cut Candidate

McNealy’s struggles started with a shoulder injury shortly after his run in Hawaii. In forced him out of action for over a month, and since he’s returned he hasn’t been the same player.

He hasn’t finished better than 36th in any of his past seven starts, racking up three missed cuts. He’s MC, 60th, MC, MC, 52nd over his last five appearances, losing strokes ball striking and tee-to-green in each of those events.

McNealy will always be an elite putter, but if you’re scrambling this week you’re simply not going to keep pace at what is expected to be a birdie fest. Over the last 24 rounds, the 27-year-old ranks 135th in greens in regulation and 130th in fairways gained.

Pick: Maverick McNealy to Miss Cut (+145)

Make the Cut Parlay

While there’s plenty of reasons to be down on McNealy this week, there are a handful of golfers we want to target for our make the cut parlay, while trying to be price sensitive.

Let’s start with out top value Eric Cole. He’s posted top-25 results in three of his past four starts, and ranks top-10 in the field in ball striking, tee-to-green and scoring over the last 24 rounds.

We’ll pair him with both Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood, who are each playing better than they have in quite some time. Rose is top-five in the field over the past 24 rounds in iron play and scoring, while Fleetwood is top-10 in ball striking, short game, iron play and scoring over the same stretch.

No Canadian Open make the cut parlay is complete without a Canuck involved, and Nick Taylor seems like the best bang for your buck. He’s made three straight cuts at this event, and ranks top-20 in the field in scoring. He trunk slammed in his last start, but it was all putting related. His ball striking was positive, and with four top-10 finishes already on his 2022-23 resume, including a runner-up at an elevated event, he’s on pace for the best season of his career.

Pick: Make the Cut Parlay (+185)

Meronk vs Mitchell H2H Matchup

Switching to the head-to-head market now, where there’s a fantastic plus-money opportunity. Adrian Meronk is currently catching +100 in his matchup with Keith Mitchell, which is simply a product of Meronk not being a household name in North America.

Meronk vs Mitchell Odds

Team Moneyline
Adrian Meronk +100
Keith Mitchell -120

He’s been on an absolute tear over in Europe, posting four top-10’s in eight 2023 events, including a victory. He ranks third on the DP World Tour in both scoring and greens in regulation, and gained 7.1 strokes ball striking in his last start on the PGA Tour.

As for Mitchell, he hasn’t posted a result better than 48th since early March, and has lost strokes tee-to-green in five of his last six starts.

Pick: Adrian Meronk over Keith Mitchell (+100)
