Bauer’s Striking Dodgers Debut

The much-anticipated first start as a Los Angeles Dodger for reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Trevor Bauer goes Friday against the Colorado Rockies. The total bar on Bauer strikeouts has been set at 7.5.

In 12 starts last season, he cleared that seven times, including in four of his last five starts. Bauer has also fanned more than 7.5 batters in each of his last two season debuts.

He struck out 13 Detroit Tigers in his first start last season. In 2019, Bauer fanned nine Minnesota Twins.

Over his career against the Rockies, Bauer is averaging 1.24 strikeouts per inning. That’s above his career average of 1.14. Based on that number, he’ll need to work into the seventh inning to get over 7.5 strikeouts.

The last time Bauer faced the Rockies was on Aug. 9th, 2017. He struck out nine batters in seven innings of work. The Rockies struck out 9.05 times per game last season.

Pick: Trevor Bauer over 7.5 strikeouts (-110)

Meadows Hits Lopez

For certain, it’s what the baseball people would call a small sample size. Still, the fact of the matter is that Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Austin Meadows has collected a hit in every game against the Miami Marlins when he’s faced Pablo Lopez as Miami’s starting pitcher.

Sure, it’s only been two games. Yes, he’s knocked only a solitary hit in each game, so it’s not like he’s wearing Lopez out.

Nonetheless, a streak is a streak until it’s stopped. Ride that hot hand for all it’s worth. That being said, DraftKings is also offering a second Meadows hit prop. It’s giving +190 odds that he won’t go over 1.5 hits.

Pick: Austin Meadows 1+ Hits (-220)
