Walker vs Wheeler

Since appearing in his first MLB All-Star game, Walker is pitching nothing like an all-star hurler. He’s 0-3 with a 12.00 ERA through his last four starts. The right-hander is among the bottom 7% in the majors in Max EV (115.9).

Walker has surrendered at least four earned runs in each of those four starts. He’s also served up seven home runs over his past three trips to the mound.

Walker has faced the Phillies three times this season. He hasn’t figured in any of the decisions. However, the Mets are 3-0 in those games. He’s also 1-0 with a career-3.75 ERA at Citizens Bank Park.

Lefty Wheeler is 2-1 with a 3.32 ERA in six career starts against the Mets. This season, he’s 1-1 when facing them. Wheeler has worked into the seventh inning in all three of those starts.

Wheeler rates among the top 3% in the majors in exit velocity (84.6) and the top 4% in hard hit percentage (29.1). He’s also in the top 5% in xWOBA (.251) and xERA (2.62) and in the top 10% in xSLG (.303).

Walker has proven effective against several of Philadelphia’s veteran hitters. Bryce Harper (.111), Rhys Hoskins (.143) and Didi Gregorius (.182) have all struggled at the plate when stepping against him.
