  • The Chicago White Sox are -155 road favorites over the Chicago Cubs in the latest edition of this cross-city rivalry on Friday, August 6
  • The Cubs have won three of the last four games against the White Sox
  • It’s the ChiSox who hold a 4-2 edge over the past six games played between the two teams at Wrigley Field

Baseball in the Windy City this season is a tale of two teams. The Chicago White Sox (64-45, 25-26 away) lead the American League Central. The Chicago Cubs (52-58, 31-21 home) are fourth overall in National League Central, ten games out of first place.

Games between the White Sox and Cubs are a tale of two different outcomes. Overall, the Cubbies have won three of four from the ChiSox. At Wrigley Field, though, it’s the White Sox who hold a 4-2 advantage over the past six games.

Oddsmakers are anticipating that the latter trend will continue. The ChiSox are -155 road favorites as they open a three-game weekend series against their crosstown rivals. This season, only the Los Angeles Dodgers (26) have won more games as an away favorite than the White Sox (18).

White Sox vs Cubs Picks

The ChiSox won’t be getting back centerfielder Luis Robert (hip flexor) in time for this series with the Cubs. He’s continuing a rehab assignment with AAA Charlotte through the weekend.

The White Sox are scuffling of late. Wednesday’s 3-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals was their eighth over the past 13 games.

Pitching is a big reason why Chicago leads the AL Central. The White Sox own baseball’s seventh-best ERA (3.66) and sixth-best WHIP (1.19). Opponents are hitting .227 against them, also seventh-best in the majors.

The Cubs are also heading south. They’re 2-7 through their last nine games. They’re hitting just .227, which is 28th in the majors. As well, they’re a dismal 1-11 through their last 12 games against teams with a winning record.

Pick: Chicago White Sox (-155)
