It’s getaway day for the White Sox (7-17, 4-11 away) as they conclude a three game set in Toronto with a matinee affair against the Blue Jays (15-9, 6-2 home) on Wednesday, April 26th at the Rogers Centre. First pitch is scheduled for 1:07 pm ET in a game that can be seen on NBC Sports Chicago and Sportsnet.

This game is a tale of two teams headed in opposite directions as the Chisox have lost six games in a row, while the Blue Jays have won four of their last five, all by at least three runs. Have a look at the White Sox vs Blue Jays odds below, as we also offer up our best bet and prediction.

White Sox vs Blue Jays Odds

Team Moneyline Runline Total
Chicago White Sox +144 +1.5 (-137) O 9.5 (-115)
Toronto Blue Jays -172 -1.5 (+114) U 9.5 (-105)

Toronto has won the first two games of this series by 5-2 and 7-0 scorelines, rendering the White Sox offense futile. With terrific starting pitching over the last five games, the Bluebirds have gone under the run total in five consecutive games. The total for this one is pegged at 9.5 runs.

Unsurprisingly, the Blue Jays are comfortable -172 moneyline favorites to sweep Chicago out of town. Only two teams in the American League are off to worse starts than the White Sox.

Chicago vs Toronto Probable Pitchers

Expectations have been sky high for Michael Kopech ever since he was acquired as one of the key pieces in a deal that sent Chris Sale to the Red Sox over five years ago. Unfortunately for the Chicago South Siders, he has yet to deliver.

On Wednesday he gets the ball for the fifth time this season and gets a stiff test against one of the best MLB starting lineups in the Toronto Blue Jays.

Although he showed signs of delivering on his promise last season, posting a 3.54 ERA and striking out 105 batters in 119 innings of work, he’s had a rough go to kick off this campaign. Kopech has only gone further than five innings once this season and carries a 6.97 ERA into Wednesday afternoon’s contest.

Kopech vs Kikuchi Stats

Michael Kopech
VS
Yusei Kikuchi
0-2 Record 3-0
6.97 ERA 3.80
1.74 WHIP 1.17
.272 OBA .250
1.6 SO/W Ratio 4.0

On the other hand, Yusei Kikuchi appears to have bounced back from a difficult first season with Toronto where he got demoted from the starting rotation to the bullpen. After a terrific spring, the fifth year Major Leaguer from Japan won his place back and hasn’t disappointed, with a 3-0 record and 3.80 ERA in four starts.

The biggest difference for Kikuchi has been the ability to control his pitches. Last year, he walked 5.2 runners per nine innings, giving opponents ample opportunities to cash in those free passes. This season, he has allowed just 2.1 walks per nine innings, the lowest total of his career, while his strikeout to walk ratio is the best it’s ever been in his five major league seasons.

Blue Jays Three-Headed Monster Scaring Opposition

The triumvirate of Bo Bichette, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Matt Chapman have absolutely destroyed pitchers this season with all of them in the top five in batting average in the American League coming into Tuesday night’s action.

With a big pay day in free agency awaiting him, Chapman looks poised for a career year. He leads the junior circuit with a 206 OPS+ and in batting average . Renowned for his outstanding defense, if Chapman keeps up this level of production at the plate, you might want to sprinkle some cash on the Blue Jays World Series odds at +1200 while you can.

White Sox vs Blue Jays Prediction

Steady underdogs in the MLB odds this season, the White Sox are 0-8 in their last eight during game 3 of a series. Meanwhile, Toronto is a perfect 4-0 in games started by the rejuvenated Kikuchi.

Wagering on the over/under here is tough because, although the Jays can put up runs with the best of them, they can also easily shut down this feeble White Sox lineup and it’s tough to bet on Toronto to score 10 runs on their own.

The money bet here is to pick the Blue Jays to romp again. Sweeps are usually tough, but given the trend of Chicago’s terrible mark in the last game of a three game set, it’s easy to roll with a big Blue Jays victory in this matchup.

Pick: Toronto Blue Jays -1.5 (+114)
