In what looked to be a potential sweep, the Milwaukee Bucks managed to grab a crucial win in Game 3 to cut the series to a 2-1 deficit against Brooklyn Nets. Now, the Nets are favored ahead of a decisive Game 4 on Sunday at Fiserv Forum. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 PM EST.

Khris Middleton showed out on Thursday for the Bucks, dropping a team-high 35 points in a low-scoring 86-83 affair. The Greek Freak also added 33, with the Milwaukee defense doing a much better job of containing Brooklyn’s offensive weapons not named Kevin Durant.

Injury Report

Brooklyn is playing it safe with star playmaker James Harden. He left early in Game 1 with hamstring tightness and he has once again been ruled out for this contest. Veteran forward Jeff Green (foot) suffered his injury in Game 3 of round one against the Celtics and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s matchup.

The Nets did get some good news on the Spencer Dinwiddie front, however. The guard, who has been out all season with an ACL injury, could potentially make a return in the NBA Finals if Brooklyn gets there, per NY Daily News.

As for the Bucks, they have no new injuries to report. Donte DiVincenzo (foot) is their lone absence. He remains out for the entirety of the playoffs.

Brooklyn Looking For Bounce Back Performance

After scoring an average of 120 points through the first two games of this series, the Nets were held to just 83 on Thursday. The offense struggled to really get it going, with KD essentially carrying the load alone. He continued his dominant postseason, collecting 30 points in the loss.

Kyrie Irving had only 22 and as a team, Brooklyn shot a mere 36% from the field. Even Durant was 11 for 28 despite another 30-piece. The glaring issue that stood out here was the lack of production from the supporting cast. Other than their star duo and Bruce Brown, the rest of the rotation were all in single digits, with the bench scoring a dismal seven points.

On a more positive note though, the Nets’ defense continues to impress. It certainly wasn’t a strength during the regular season but they’ve stepped up to the plate in this series especially. Oddly enough, it was their offense that cost them in Game 3. Kyrie and the rest of the supporting cast will need to be a lot more efficient alongside KD on Sunday in order to take a 3-1 stranglehold.

Giannis, Middleton Lead The Way

It was a similar story for the Bucks on Thursday. Antetokounmpo and Middleton combined for 68 of Milwaukee’s 86 points in a rather uninspiring performance from the rest of the lineup.

Despite having just nine points to show for, Jrue Holiday hit a clutch layup in with 11.4 seconds left in the final period to seal the deal just before Durant missed a game-tying three at the buzzer. Just like their opponents, the Bucks were impressive in limiting clean looks for the Nets while holding them to their lowest point total of the entire season.

However, they also shot the ball rather poorly. Mike Budenholzer’s posted an atrocious 19% clip from long range and 38% from the field. They weren’t much better at the line either, shooting 63%.

Middleton was truly the star of the show though, hitting numerous clutch shots down the stretch for Milwaukee. He will need to continue to play at a high level alongside the Greek Freak if this team is going to have any chance of getting past the star-studded Nets.

Prediction

Both of these clubs were two of the best offensive teams in the Association in the regular season. It’s unheard of for them to each score under 100 points. While there’s likely value elsewhere for Game 4, the over is going to be the best bet.

The under was hit in the first three contests of the series,  but it’s only a matter of time until the Nets and Bucks go off in a high-scoring battle given the talent throughout their rosters.

Pick: Over 227.5 (-110)
