It’s a jam-packed slate in the NBA on Friday, February 4th with a total of nine contests on the schedule. There is no shortage of marquee matchups, either.

Joel Embiid’s Philadelphia 76ers will face Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks down in Texas, while the slumping Brooklyn Nets, who are still without Kevin Durant, will be looking to end their six-game losing in Utah against the Jazz.

Elsewhere, the young and hungry Cleveland Cavaliers clash with LaMelo Ball’s Charlotte Hornets in a must-watch game in the East. Also, two hot teams in the Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors also face off in the tail-end of a back-to-back.

Odds as of February 4th at FanDuel Sportsbook

Embiid should be back for the Sixers, and the current favorite in the NBA MVP odds is set for another monstrous night, projected for over 30 points and double digit rebounds.

Mobley to Go Over 17.5 Points

As if the Cleveland Cavaliers haven’t dealt with enough bad luck this season, Darius Garland is also sidelined right now with a minor back injury, which adds to their backcourt absences. He’s not expected to be out for long, but that means other players on this roster are going to have to step up on Friday. Evan Mobley is the one worth looking at in terms of points based on what he did last time out.

YouTube video

Although the Cavs lost to the lowly Houston Rockets on Wednesday, Mobley dropped a career-high 29 points while grabbing 12 rebounds. The rookie big man was having his way with Christian Wood, absolutely bodying him all night around the rim. In every way possible, this was one of Mobley’s most complete performances of the season thus far and it was without Garland dishing him dimes in the post.

Cleveland’s opponent on Friday, the Hornets, is 26th in defensive rating and allows the 17th most points per game in the paint. I frankly don’t think Mason Plumlee is going to be the answer to stop Mobley, either. He’ll deliver for the depleted Cavs again and maintain his status as Rookie of the Year favorite.

  • Pick: Evan Mobley Over 17.5 Points (-116)

Smart Continues to Shoot it Well

Marcus Smart receives his fair share of criticism, but he’s undoubtedly a key part of the Celtics’ success. While his scoring output has been very solid lately, the clear value for Friday night is going to be his three-point shooting. Although Smart is draining just 31% of his triples this season, he’s hit the over in treys in two straight contests and in eight of his previous ten.

YouTube video

A couple of nights ago, he went 2 for 6 from long range and 4 for 7 just a few days prior. Smart takes 4.7 threes per game and is never shy to chuck up a bomb from deep. Also, Boston is playing the Pistons, who are 29th in the Association at defending the three-ball. Smart is feeling it right now and honestly, at 1.5 as the over/under, this is a no-brainer. The value is worth it.

  • Pick: Marcus Smart 1.5 Three-Pointers (+102)
