The Miami Heat begin a four-game road trip on Monday, December 13th as they face the surging Cleveland Cavaliers. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm ET at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

Miami is coming off a big 118-92 win over the depleted Chicago Bulls on Saturday behind a team-high 26 points from Duncan Robinson. The Cavs, meanwhile, beat the Sacramento Kings to collect their third straight victory.

Cleveland already took down the Heat on December 1st by a score of 111-85 in South Beach.

Heat vs Cavaliers Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Miami Heat +4.5 (-110) +162 OFF
Cleveland Cavaliers -4.5 (-110) -194 OFF

Odds as of December 12th at FanDuel.

The Cavs are a 4.5-point home favorite for Monday’s contest and have an 11-3 ATS record at home. Miami on the other hand, are 8-1 as ATS underdogs, which is certainly a factor to keep an eye on here.

Miami Staying Afloat Without Key Players

The Heat’s rotation is certainly looking thin right now as Jimmy Butler continues to recover from a tailbone injury, while Bam Adebayo is out indefinitely after undergoing thumb surgery.

However, Miami has won two consecutive games without their star duo. Best of all, they beat the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks, then the Bulls on Saturday.

Kyle Lowry is stepping up his production for Erik Spoelstra’s squad and he was once again a key piece in defeating Chicago. The veteran guard dropped 16 points and dished out a mind-boggling 14 assists for the Heat, who shot a stellar 44% from downtown and 50% from the field.

Miami took full advantage of the COVID-ravaged Bulls, outscoring them in the paint 48-22 and also dominating the boards, outrebounding Billy Donovan’s group 50-34.

Following a cold night vs Milwaukee, Robinson erupted for 26 points on 5-for-9 shooting from long range. Considering the Heat didn’t have one of their main facilitators in Butler, the ball movement was tremendous.

They posted 37 assists in this contest and did a fantastic job of finding great looks, whether it was a mid-range jumper or a triple. Despite their recent success, however, Miami is just 8-7 on the road this season.

Cavs Putting NBA on Notice

Cleveland’s young core was always intriguing coming into this season, especially with the addition of rookie Evan Mobley.

While many believed it would take some time for them to potentially be a playoff team, the Cavs are looking like they could lock down a top-eight seed by the end of the campaign.

It was another dominant performance for J.B. Bickerstaff’s squad Saturday against the struggling Kings, scoring a ridiculous 81 points in the first half alone.

The entire unit was firing on all cylinders, with seven different players finishing in double-digits, led by Isaac Okoro who had 20 points. Cleveland shot 61% from the field in the first two quarters and went into halftime with a 29-point lead.

Sacramento did find their way back into the contest, but the Cavs ultimately held on for a 14-point win. Their scary frontcourt of Mobley and Jarrett Allen wreaked havoc, combining for 26 rebounds and 34 points.

Considering franchise guard Collin Sexton is sidelined with a knee injury, it’s very impressive how well Cleveland is managing to play. Darius Garland’s really stepped up his output on both ends while Ricky Rubio is also giving the Cavaliers some nice production off the bench.

Heat vs Cavaliers Prediction

Both teams come into Monday on winning streaks, but I really like the Heat here for an ATS victory. Their 8-1 underdog record is far too impressive to look past and they’ll be looking for revenge after getting blown out by the Cavs just a couple of weeks ago. Take Miami.

Pick: Miami Heat +4.5 (-110)
