Nine games are due to be played in the NBA on Thursday May 13th. With teams jostling for seeding in the Eastern Conference, the Sixers and Heat matchup with Philly narrowly favored.
Having clinched a top six berth with a win over Washington on Wednesday, the Atlanta Hawks have the favorable task of taking on the Orlando Magic. Hoping to snatch the eight seed off the Warriors, the Memphis Grizzlies face a depleted Kings group.
The playoff impact in the West doesn’t stop there. Phoenix and Portland matchup with the one seed and play-in positioning on the line. The Blazers are 5.5-point dogs despite beating Utah on Wednesday.

Slow-Mo Drains Threes
Kyle Anderson is shooting over 40% from three over his last 10 games. This is a career year for the Memphis forward. Matching up with the Sacramento Kings, Anderson will be looking to post some big numbers.

Sure, the Kings’ defense has remarkably been sixth in defensive rating over the last ten, but there’s reason to put some of that down to luck. Teams are shooting a freakishly low 32.9% from deep against Sacramento over that run. Maybe they’re contesting harder. Maybe they’re just getting some good fortune with poor opponent shooting.
Sacramento is on a surprise 6-1 run at a point when it might make more sense to lose games. Without De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton or Harrison Barnes, these Kings are working at a severe talent deficit. They are facing a deep Grizzlies team which has won three in a row and is fiercely motivated to put the pressure on the Warriors for the eight seed.

Anderson went three-for-three from deep when these teams last met. Memphis doesn’t take a huge number of threes, and Anderson’s shot quantity can vary, but the price on over 1.5 threes still looks like good value. With the Kings likely to struggle to contain Ja Morant, Anderson should be one of the main beneficiaries with open looks.

LaVine Lights Up Raps
Since returning to action, Zach LaVine has picked up where he left off. The Chicago Bulls All-Star is over 27 points per game and shooting north of 45% from three. Chicago faces a Toronto team which has been eliminated from play-in contention and has embraced the draft lottery.

Toronto were blown out by the Clippers a couple of nights ago, using a barely recognizable rotation. Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet, Aron Baynes, Chris Boucher, Pascal Siakam, Rodney Hood and OG Anunoby are all out for Thursday’s game. With their priorities drastically changing, the Raps are 20th in defensive rating over the last 10 games.
This would usually be a tricky matchup for LaVine, such is the level of Toronto’s defensive personnel. On this occasion, though, this is a night he will be looking forward to. LaVine has scored 71 points across his last two games – another big night is to be expected.

Even though the Bulls and Raptors are two of the slower teams in the league of late, LaVine will have no problem getting shots up. He’s played over 35 minutes in his last two outings, and registered 27 shots against Brooklyn. Over 25.5 is an obvious bet.
