Tatum Assists Total Offers Value in NBA Player Props
Boston is favored by 6.5 points against Toronto despite losing to the Knicks on opening night. Jayson Tatum struggled, going 7-for-30 from the field and recording three turnovers to just four assists.
The Raptors have the length and personnel to make it another challenging night for Tatum. He also has the ability to take the defense out of the game and dominate regardless of the opposition. Given Jaylen Brown’s big night against the Knicks, perhaps OG Anunoby takes Brown, and Scottie Barnes is left with Tatum. As good defensively as Barnes is, it’s a massive ask to guard an All-NBA player like Tatum in just his second game.
However Toronto scheme to cope with Boston’s wing stars, Tatum is going to have the ball in his hands a lot. There is no longer a pure point guard to run the offense in Boston, leaving them to rely on ball movement and playmaking by committee.

There’s also a straightforward argument to take Tatum’s assists over here. He notched four (admittedly in 44 minutes) in game one. He averaged 4.3 per game last season and went over 3.5 in four of his five playoff outings.
Taking more playmaking responsibility has been, and will be, a big part of Tatum’s development. This seems like a low number for his assists – the odds might be short, but it’s still a good bet.
Pick: Jayson Tatum over 3.5 assists (-122)
Harrison’s NBA Betting Outlook Over 14.5 Points
The Kings opened up with a three-point win over Portland. Harrison Barnes was the architect of that victory with 36 points on 19 shots. Sacramento now takes on Utah. Utah is a much better defensive team than the Blazers, but they are not flawless on that end. Their defense leans heavily on Rudy Gobert, and as has been seen in the playoffs, their perimeter guarding leaves plenty to be desired.

Barnes’ career-high night came from outside shooting and getting to the line. He only shot nine or more free throws on five occasions last season, and he reached that tally on Wednesday. His eight threes made isn’t exactly sustainable, but he’s always been a good shooter.
This isn’t saying Barnes is having an All-Star breakout. The 14.5 point NBA player prop line seems low for a guy that just went for 36, though, particularly given Utah’s so-so perimeter defense. Sacramento has the playmakers to find Barnes when he’s open, and they showed against Portland that they are willing to feed him when he gets going.
We’re going with the hot hand to stay hot. Take over 14.5 in the NBA player props odds at -116.
Pick: Harrison Barnes over 14.5 points (-116)
