No one expects the Pacers to be good this year. After all, they traded way the majority of their proven veterans last season. That doesn’t mean they won’t be entertaining though.

Through the first three games, Indiana (1-2, 0-0 away) has been one of the most fun teams to watch. They’re playing a fast paced, high scoring brand of basketball, ranking fourth in scoring and sixth in pace.

They’ll hit the road for their first test of the season as visitors on Monday, when they travel to Philadelphia. Oddsmakers aren’t giving the Pacers much credit in the NBA odds, as they pegged the winless 76ers (0-3, 0-2 home) as the heavy chalk.

Philadelphia 76ers Betting Analysis

After dropping a pair of games to two of the top NBA Championship odds contenders in Boston and Milwaukee, Philly was embarrassed 114-105 by the rebuilding Spurs on Saturday. The loss dropped the Sixers to 0-3 for the first time since 2016, and it came despite a 40-point effort from Joel Embiid.

The 28-year-old is off to a slow start by his standards so far, averaging only 27 points per game after leading the league in scoring last season. Plantar fasciitis is reportedly impacting his conditioning, and it shows. Through three outings, he’s a minus-17.

While Embiid exploded offensively against San Antonio, James Harden took a step back. He mustered only 12 points, after averaging 33 a night in Philly’s first two contests.

The 76ers shot just 44% from the field, while losing the rebounding and assist battle. They yielded a 48% field goal percentage to the Spurs, allowing an opponent to reach at least 114 points for the second time in three games.

Their three new offseason additions P.J. Tucker, Danuel House Jr. and De’Anthony Melton accounted for 5 points total in 62 minutes, and were a combined -11.

Indiana Pacers Betting Analysis

The Pacers meanwhile, enter play fresh off their first win of the season. They took down Detroit 124-115 on Saturday, snapping a 12-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Rookie Bennedict Mathurin was the catalyst off the bench, pouring in 27 points including several big threes in the second half. Indiana’s bench outscored the Pistons 58-29, and racked up more rebounds and assists, while committing fewer turnovers than Detroit.

Tyrese Haliburton added 24 points for Indiana, and Jalen  Smith splashed 19. The Pacers have scored at least 107 points in all three outings so far, averaging 128.5 points per contest over their last two.

On the injury front, the team continues to play without starting center Myles Turner. The 26-year-old has been out since injuring his ankle during pregame warmups prior to Indiana’s season opener, and there’s no official time-frame for his return.

Pacers vs 76ers Prediction

Not only does Indiana rank top-four in points per game, they also rank bottom-four in scoring defense. They’re yielding an average of 122 points per contest despite not playing a single playoff team from a year ago.

This is a get right spot for the 76ers, and a chance for both Embiid and Harden to finally both put together strong showings on the same night. The Pacers are allowing the second highest 3-point field goal percentage to enemy shooters so far, and the league’s eighth most assists.

Without Turner they’re vulnerable down the middle, as they’ve coughed up over 45 points per night in the paint. Expect Embiid and the Sixers to finally get into the win column in a high-scoring affair.

Pick: Philadelphia 76ers ML + Over 226 (+115)
